Warning : Recovery tanks sold on ebay

Non DOT (Department of Transportation) approved recovery tanks sold on Ebay. All recovery tanks used in the USA need to be DOT approved & have a "manufacture date" stamped in the metal. These do not. Go to link below, click on contact seller on right side of page. On the next page (asking for reasons) click "Other" (2) at bottom of list. read response #2. I don't know anything about the quality. I ran across this as I was going to ask the seller "Born on Date". I could never use these on a job site or turn them for the refrigerant to be recycled . There would also be a Fine. Up to $1,000,000.00 Yes, my zero key didn't get stuck, Guess they wanted to scare people into complying. The original Montreal Protocol went into effect January 1 1989 IIRC.

It looks like a new bottle but the valve looks a bit cheap for new. Looking at the quantity sold tells me he gets from China.

This tank doesn’t have a dot label on it. The description clearly says dot-4ba400 but there’s not label or stamped information on the tank. Also has no date of manufacture.

They are new bottles, Whoever made them even picked the same paint scheme as approved bottles in the USA. Most of mine, Amtrol come from Portugal , but meet all the standards. The Thing is it's probably not illegal to sell them ,just to use them. I'm sure the seller isn't even aware why the buyer is complaining . Felt bad for the guy who got scammed.
