I'd be happy to get feedback from anyone reading or using the guide, contributions from others will only improve the content. I only have 2 AMD boards and CPUs, and only a couple different kits of memory to test with making it hard to be as thorough as I would like.

I would however ask that you add a link back to this thread instead of just hard linking the file or mirroring the link. I would like to keep comments, questions etc as centralised as possible so the guide can develop properly.

Posts look like with inline attachments, is there any way I can change them to image tags or is anything uploaded to xs clicky only? This was a lot easier when free unlimited hosting was a thing... Photobucket traffic nazis shut down my old hosting last year because I wouldnt pay stupid amounts per month for it.

Anyway I hope thats useful, its padded out from my notes over the last few weeks.

Memory timings will come at some point in the future, I barely have half the tertiarys worked out so far.

Updated guide will be posted tonight - LLC section has been added (may get its own thread, makes a huge difference to OC stability on Ryzen 3000) and also Memory Timings section added (even though I said I wouldn't). I'm loath to start a memory timings thread as I simply don't have many different sticks to test with, I only have samsung and hynix kits that OC well. As a result of this the memory timings section is based on Samsung B-Die. Other ICs will have their own individual characteristics that may mean they clock better with different timings.
As a quick spoiler, during testing I found B-Die and Ryzen 3000 to be happiest at the listed C16 timings in the guide. I could match or even exceed the bandwidth and latency using other timing combinations, but all required considerably more voltage or were not quite stable. Final stability was confirmed using 1200% HCI memtest @ 16 threads x 1640mb which takes just under 24 hours.
My limited testing with Hynix seemed to indicate C16 timings being more stable was a Ryzen thing as these dimms also clocked best at C16 timings (16-17-17-17-35-52-1T) hitting nearly 3800mhz @ only 1.33v. Slackening timings made little difference to voltage requirements (C19 required 1.3v), tightening from here requires massive amounts more voltage for little gain (C15 required 1.46v).

I will be changing the OP to just have a link to the guide in PDF form and a brief Index of content. Post two will be version history. Should make it more readable and easy on the eyes - I think it looks way less user friendly with inline attachments instead of pictures and am still being lazy about resolving my hosting problem. This will also make it easier to update.

Sadly I need to have a quick moan as well...I must say I'm disappointed with how many have downloaded compared to replies in the thread. I'll continue to update the guide regardless, based on download tracking its clearly being used and circulated somewhere, but it would be nice to see just a few of those using the guide registering accounts here.

As always, I'm happy to take any questions, complaints or requests. The guide will improve with feedback - my ego would love to assume its perfect first time but sadly I doubt that's the case!

One does not simply buy a 3900x....

I really dont know whats going on at AMD, they arent selling out of 3600s or 3600x, so why cant they make more 3900x? Tin foil hat time - could it be so people give up and buy the 3950x instead? Joking aside though, its a very odd situation, I hope you get your cpu soon bud! Thanks for your kind words too

Next update will be an expansion on the memory timings - which timings have the most effect and which will need the least effort.

Spoiler: Set Primaries, TRC, TRFC, TRRD_S, TRRD_L, TFAW, CMD/GDM and you can leave the rest on Auto for an easy cold boot every time and it doesn't leave much performance on the table (be aware though some boards have really bad Auto's, these can still ruin performance if set to really terrible values). The flipside of that is the remaining timings ask for little in the way of voltage increase demands, so its simply a matter of a quick stability test (10 mins then restart and go lower, once it fails increase timing to previous value and long test) to find your tightest sub timings. There's about another 500 to 1000mb/s read and copy and 0.5ns or so latency to be gained from final tweaks.
