That Nvidia guy is a douchebag. He's just butthurt that AMD can do 7nm and they can't yet. But hey, they have Ray Tracing lol.

I'm excited to see what the Radeon VII can do with compute work for us crunchers.

Also excited to see if the Ryzen 3000 series is going to have something higher than 8/16 core counts.

Well he's right. The new "Radion 7" is just fail Vega 2. It's clear it was slapped together last minute. Is over priced and underpowered just like Vega. Total trash and will be a flop. Navi can not come soon enough.

However Ryzen 3000 is looking great. And Intel needs to pull something out fast because is that was Ryzen 5 it's going to be a rough year for them.

Vega VII is simply enterprise class product that is sold to few customers on consumer space that want it.
Its not underpowered, its overpowered for a gaming card.It has 16GB(!) hbm2, titan rtx has 12GB gddr6, it has MONSTROUS 1terabyte per second of bandwith ,titan rtx has 2/3 of that.It has 13x(!) times more FP64 thoroughput than titan rtx.
Is it a good gaming card ? Not for that price. Is 16GB useful in most games ? No.
But there certainly is a market for such a card.
Huang was pretty angry after VII presentation and went berserk, i dont think it has anything to do with gaming. This card will surely lower sales of his very pricey tesla`s.
So, not a good gaming card (costs too much, nothing really new).
    Good cheap prosumer card.
    Brilliant compute card (for some).

Yep, compute for me is what I need. I don't game so Ray Tracing does nothing for me. I need raw power that apps love so I can help team XS crunch.

And people who complain about power... don't you tweak your Nvidia GPUs for lower power and heat without sacrificing performance and many times increasing performance by having it not throttle? Well, that's what Vega needs done to it when you get them. I don't get double standards.

I was looking to get a 1080 or 1080ti in September last year. But pricing, even though it came down to sane levels, made no sense for me to pay more for a new 1080 or time than I could have for the Vega 64 bought instead. For my purpose of crunching, it was a way better decision. Very happy with my SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 DirectX 12 100410NT+SR which is running undervolted and overclocked. 1000mv on core and HBM2 and running 24/7 @ 1540 MHz on core and 1000 MHz on HBM2.

I will most likely try and get a Radeon VII as well too and also be extremely happy with it compared to a 2080 or 2080ti for what I do.

Instead of knocking or hating on something, maybe try and understand where it fits in first and for whom it fits.

A card with $300 of memory on a $700 card does make no sense, and putting something out with only 64 ROP makes no sense as the current vega is ROP starved. I live my vega 56, but like others said it is a scrap card.

The power consumption is not that much more than the 2080 people will actually buy, and vega is way better frame times than pascal so I expect good things.

I'm extremely excited for the new AM4 parts. I have a 1080 that does 2200mhz core 24/7, so I'm not in the market for Radeon 7. I'll hold out for Navi.
I'm holding off to see if I can justify Threadripper. I/O and OC potential will really determine that.
    You must [not] advance.

AMD Radeon VII Interview with Scott Herkelman

We had the opportunity to talk to Scott Herkelman at AMD about the new Radeon VII GPU at CES 2019, and he was kind enough to answer questions that we had. We get his thoughts on the new Radeon VII, its full specifications and die size, FreeSync, multi-GPU, 16GB of HBM2, AMD getting back into direct retail sales of video cards, and more.
