I've been a very long time lurker. For the longest while I couldn't reset my password properly so i went to a read only mode.

I miss all of the awesome technical info. this site had coming in new for more complex things like cascade cooling, or some of the advanced knowledge you'd find on ES overclocking (Yes I know - not great for the long term relationships with chip makers). Some day I'll build a cascade cooler, or at least a water chiller setup..

Perhaps an attempt with less forums and more concentrated info. might get something going with a smaller than historical group? Sites like RealworldTech or even Semiaccurate Forums bring some pretty deep technical people together without any large amount of activity daily.

Ok this my reason to join XS. I modded my first 9700pro and don't want to tell the result . 15 years... I am married for only 12 years. You are like my family... no you are actually a part of my family. I am here until site is completely down. And my only wish is to see one of you in real life...

Thank all of you who read this or not...

I know the news slowed down from Stym, but this post makes it sound like there was some sort of news of a shut down? I sure hope not... I learned a lot from here back in the day... and I still check this news forum frequently.

Only reason why I haven't been actively posting is because the site is no longer "https" certified, how come? Why isn't the connection secured anymore for our logins?

This forum is truly special... I recall back in the day... even felt horrible to hear that movieman had passed... it truly was like a family here.... a family of rather technical people, a family of technology enthusiasts who made the latest and greatest CPU's/GPU's/Chipsets/Ram even faster and more bleeding edge with overclocking... it was like a forum of "elites" in the genre, all hanging out and conversing. I came here from the anandtech forums back in the day, anandtech had too many people with high ego's yet clearly didn't know what they were talking about... yet whenever I came here, everyone was "on-point" or willing to learn, teach, and debate in a somewhat respectful and educating manner. The community got together to share and find solutions to their overclocking "needs".

I keep my sig the same for nostalgia, even though that machine isn't running anymore... back when DFI lanparty boards were all the rage.

I love this forum even though I had some disagreements over my 12 years with a few far left types. I've gained much knowledge here and voided many warranties with it. I've donated all my used hardware over those 12 years to young people with bright futures and encourage others to do the same.
Thank you Mr Wirth for all your time and hard work as well as those who contribute to the forum. Lets make it 12 more years.

Still come here almost daily, just with the hope in my heart.

We are here, just kinda in that point in life where we have our toys, I am working on a project I will for sure add to watercooling and OC sections, still waiting on a few things though.

Nice bro. The xp-120 was a beast. Haha, as for fitting a 120mm fan on an xp90, I used wire tie downs to "mount" it on to the xp90, had awesome results for it's time... I was running like 2.87ghz 72 hours stable on prime 95 on my opteron 64.

It's also nice to see a lot of familiar handles still on here from back in the day too, even if we didn't interact much directly, good to see familiar names still active. Charles (glad you're ok man, saw on the other board regarding your health issues) aka "fugger", madcho, dengyoung, sparky, BenchZowner, and many others... I recall a few others that I don't see anymore ( nn_step, synthetickiller, and a few more... I remember their avatars, haha... it's been a while.... and I've been through some things in life myself and I'm thankful to still be around...stay safe and well everyone!)

I remember when Charles would be doing events in Vegas and there would be threads on it, he'd invite the forum there basically, and some members would fly out there to attend.. man I really wish I could've gone out too.

Extreme OC isn't how and what it used to be anymore.
That's the main reason things are slowing down on any extreme overclocking focused website/forum.

    Wish it was that simple!

It is a small part of whats happened in the last 10 years, but there are many other factors

This was where I really learned how to overclock and not be scared to push cpus.
I always assumed the drop off was that there was less of a need to overclock these days. Stock CPUs keep pushing towards clocks that 5 years ago were only achievable with custom loops. I was hoping AMD's new chips were going to spur some hardcore overclocking to match Intel clock for clock, but it hasn't happened, yet.

When this forum had very high activity was one of my favorite times for overclocking. Every CPU that launched seemed an excited new adventure & I couldn't wait to see how far people pushed them. Overclocking now seems like more of a glamour trend to "justify" pretty loops. I miss those days.
