That 2990WX price.... ouch. If Intel were to release a 32 core CPU right now it would most likely cost twice the price of this, though its rather surprising that AMD beat Intel to the punch with a HEDT CPU while Intel has yet to respond with a product, not counting that 28 core Xeon CPU they showed off, which isn't even a consumer retail product anyway.

    Or a *Rope-A-Dope*

When Chipzilla lost the *freedom fabric* to AMD ($330m?) in 2012-ish, Dr Su dropped the mic on Intel.

    Maybe, we shall see.

Competition don't hurt. Anyway we need both of them at least to not go in Monopoly. No one will be a winner if of them die.

competition is always good, and Intel is never out. Remember how bad netburst was? See how strong they came back with Conroe? Sure 10nm is giving them problems, but AMD being competitive is great for consumer regardless. Broadwell-E 8 cores were/are going for $1k 18 months ago. You can now get a 12 core for LESS than that price.

It's also forcing Intel's hand and making them compete with products that they normally wouldn't release this fast. (6c/8c non-hedt chips). This is great stuff.
