Although many had their doubts regarding Snapdragon-powered always-connected notebooks/tablets, it appears that there is quite a demand as it appears that HP's Envy X2 has sold out in a matter of hours.

Built around a 12.3-inch 1920x1280 screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the HP Envy X2 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB of LPDDR4-3777 RAM and 128GB of UFS storage, and, most importantly, promises up to 22 hours of battery life (19 hours of video playback) from its 3-cell 49.33Whr battery. Of course, it runs on Windows 10 S OS and it is basically a tablet with add-on cover with full-size island-style backlit keyboard.

The rest of the specifications include dual Bang & Olufsen speakers, HP's Imagepad with multi-touch gesture support, stylus, micro SD card slot, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, one USB Type-C port, a 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth 5, and a nano-SIM port for 4G LTE.

HP's Snapdragon-powered Envy X2 - 12-e011nr has been available for pre-order since late last month, the first quantity of these devices has sold out in the US in a matter of hours. While we do not have precise numbers, our sources confirmed it was a significant quantity, which is a good start for such devices.

Priced at US $999.99, the HP Envy X2 with Snapdragon 835 SoC comes with a higher price than we would have liked but the fact that it is selling out like hotcakes shows that there is a significant market for such devices.
