I'm right at 5yrs i think since i built my current box. i5-3570k has been sitting at 4.6ghz under water since without issues. my previous q6600 had bad issues and by the time i got rid of it i was under 2.9GHz from its original 3.6GHz OC just to keep it halfway stable.

Running since I got it 4.5GHz 1.260v full load crunching on World Community Grid 24/7/365 (baring any power outages) on a Corsair H70 without any stablity issues or voltage increases needed since in that time.

I know you said sandy/ivy but up until a few months ago I ran a haswell I7 5930k@4.5ghz 1.2875v with air cooling (212 evo) with zero issues of degradation. Worked like the first day I fired up right until I sold it.

I have experience with i5 2500k degradation its when you have to give it a lot of voltage to achieve 5ghz stable and over time you have to give it just a little more until your having to reduce clock speed to keep it stable, and giving it more volts/ doesn't help just would make it worse.

It all depends on if your chip is a good clocker, if it takes close to 1.5 to get to 5ghz and then your going up to say 1.53 with vdroop. I don't know if it was the heat or the voltage on at least 1 but seen 2 die and the replacement on this rig sits at 4.6

Both systems used a hyper 212 and probably hit close to 70c fully loaded I will say both systems were not kept up with the dust so that could of led to a creep in the temperature.

I think one chip died due to a glitch in the bios when it was switched from offset to manual voltage or vice versa because after that it never booted.

I was able to run my 3770k @4.6 for more then 3 - 3.5 years but after that i needed to decrease clock step by step. Before I changed it this black friday it decreased to 4ghz.

2600k since 2011 @ 4.8 ghz (1.42v) under water max load 65c , was stable and remain stable .

seems positive feed back. Actually wanted more input about sandy/Ivy bridge-E 6 cores cpus.

but here is thing. I have tested few 3930k and 4930k. after few years of heavy overclocked chip stable at locked vcore, but when pass all stress test all of sudden during web browsing or light load it get just locked or refuse to run at that frequency and vcore.

so more vcore needed is the sign of degration.

I ran a 3770K @ 5Ghz /1.5v for a little over 2 years, and now 4.8 Ghz /1.2v up until now(nearly 2.5 yrs) without a hitch whatsoever. In fact, and oddly enough, it's almost as though the chip voltage requirements actually improved over time. ie, the chip now seems completely stable in prime(large FFT's over 12hrs) with less voltage than was required in the beginning.

3770K (delidded) - full nickel waterblock - liquid metal compound w/120.3 rad

PS. I ran this chip at 5Ghz 1.48v for approximately 2 yrs, and decided to scale back to 4.8Ghz to keep temps under 75c during rendering. Whereas the 5Ghz setup would sometimes exceed 85c - hope this helps
