Netflix sends word it will support HDR through its app and Edge on a PC running Windows 10. Here is the thing, only Intel GPUs (integrated) starting at Kaby Lake processors or newer, as well as Nvidia GTX1050 GPUs and upwards, are supported. AMD GPUs are not supported.

To make the magic happen you will be required to have the Windows 10 Creators Fall (1709) Update installed reports tweakers. A Geforce GTX1050, GTX1060, GTX1070 or GTX1080 or better is supported, you need at least 3GB of graphics memory as well. Netflix, however, does not explain why HDR on AMD GPUs is not supported. Basically, all it needs is 10-bit support, and we know that Vega for certain can handle it.

In addition, both Intel and Nvidia developed GPUs that use 10 bits-per-channel for each of the RGB colors, increasing the color space that can be represented. With this new hardware available in consumer PCs, Netflix and Microsoft partnered together to put the software pieces in place. Microsoft added the necessary OS and browser changes in their Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and our engineers integrated against those APIs to complete the video player work."

Yes. And as we all know, all the other drm attempts have been fully successful and you cant get all the netflix/bluray and even hdr 4k content "elsewhere" .
I am curious tho, what drm capability radeons do not have ?

You need "PlayReady 3.0" for this, and HDMI2.0 or DP1.4 with HDR profile support. AMD does support it with the rx/vega in hardware, but it was not enabled since i think the hardware capture module can grab the data so it would not work. This also works with just HDCP to protect once it goes out, so it does nothing for actual security other than stopping screen shots.
