HP began shipping its virtual reality backpack the OMEN X Desktop VR Backpack today.

The Omen X Compact Desktop basically allows you to take VR wherever you go and if you have the money the deal is not bad.

Priced at $2,499.99, it features an integrated rechargeable battery and gives players the option to either use the desktop docking station or strap it onto their backs with the separate $499.99 backpack, which starts shipping on Friday.

Under the bonnet is a factory overclocked Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU and an Intel Core i7 processor. That means the system will be able to run games in 4K as well as smoothly play VR titles.

As a desktop the Omen X will sit in its bundled dock, which adds another pair of USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type-C port to the rig's collection of ports. That's in addition to the two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, a Thunderbolt port and jack for a headset and the power port.

Players attach the VR headset to the computer and they can VR where they like. The company also unveiled a VR backpack for business earlier this year.
