    Late to the party, R5E + 5930K

Finally got around to upgrading my system when I got hold of a 2nd hand Rampage V Extreme, 5930K and Corsair Dominator 3000C15 v4.23.

However, being out of the overclocking loop for a couple of years now I sure could use some pointers as to what settings are worth tinkering with to get a stable (enough for gaming) overclock on this system.
So far I've only adjusted Vcore and Vddr. Can't get the mem higher than 2800Mhz C15-17-17-35 at 1.37V. What is "safe" limits of Vddr with this kind of mem?
I noticed there's a setting called Vvttddr. Would raising that assist in getting these sticks to their rated 3000-15-17-17-35?
Currently testing the CPU with Prime95. Got it stable for 2hrs at 4.4GHz and 1.35V. Trying for 4.5 at 1.371V now.
Cooling right now is an Antec 920 AIO loop with default push-pull fans in a well ventilated Corsair 750D case.
Planning on a custom loop later on for the CPU and VRMs.

    Intel Core i7-5930K(ES) 4.4GHz (100x44) 1.35V
    ASUS Rampage V Extreme 3701
    Corsair Dominator 4x4GB DDR4-3000C15 (15-17-17-35) 1.35V
    ASUS GTX680DCII Top SLI
    1x Intel 750 800GB SSD
    2x Intel 730 240GB SSD RAID-0
    Plextor PX-820SA DVD-RW
    Antec 920

I'm running Corsair 3000 ram in my Asus deluxe 2 without a problem. I did read that ram speeds are impacted by the cpu overclocks. My 6850k is only at 4 GHz for now.

the 59xx dont really like ram clocking much, i found that staying around 2800-2900 and working on timings was the most stable and had the best performance unless you want to overclock the base clock. then you still want to stay in that multi range.

your cooler is also not enough to mess with voltage, you should be able to under volt and do 4.5ghz on all cores if you have reasonable ambient temps.

Well, I would like to get these stick at least to their rated 3000-15-17-17-35 @1.35V.
Found late last night that if I set the Strap to 125MHz they would boot up and run Prime95 for 1,5hrs without problem.
But I could only change the strap if I set AI Overclock Tuner to Manual... And then I could no longer change multipliers on the fly with AI Suite 3 in windows...
I'm up to 4.5GHz on the CPU @ 1.39V and the cooler still keeps all cores below 80C at full load with Prime95. Still crashes after 30-40mins though...

Been reading several R5E overclocking guides today and several of them mention raising the CPU System Agent voltage to 1.15-1.20V. However mine's already at 1.15V as default... Curious why it is that high as most of the guides said it should be at 0.8V default.

Will be tinkering a bit more with it when I get back home on monday to see if a stable 4.5 is possible otherwise I'll just back it down to 4.4@1.35V which was rock steady.

Just a side note, I'm not new to overclocking (been doing it since the Abit BX6+P2-333 days ), just to this platform!
