[News] AMD RX Vega 64 Outperforms NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti By Up To 23% In DX12 Forza 7

    http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-vega-64-o...-dx12-forza-7/

In quite a shocking turn of events AMD?s RX Vega 64 manages to outpace NVIDIA?s GTX 1080 Ti by up to 23% in the upcoming DirectX 12 ready Forza 7. The racing game officially debuts next Tuesday, 3rd of October on PC but folks over at ComputerBase.de managed to get their hands on it early to run their usual graphics performance tests and the results were surprising to say the least. So without any further ado let?s dig into the numbers.

This game really seems to like AMD cards. A 390 is beating a 1060???

not that much of a stretch it sits between 1060 3g and 1060 6g on average at 1080p while taking the lead at 4k

what is realty interesting is that vega 64 goes from being only 20% faster than the fury x on average which is about the clock speed difference to about 60% faster suggesting this game is making use of the tweaks they made to gcn and not just a driver problem with nvidia although im sure there is room for them to close the gap and maybe catch up with the 1080ti in future driver updates

also interesting that the amd cards fall behind as the res goes up its usually the other way around
except for fury which has obviously run out of vram

I suspect one of the many consequences of a 'lean and mean' stripped-down AMD is the lack of resources in driver optimizations and schmoozing with game developers. The good news is that when the"Stars" line up right, they can still run with the Big Dog ...

Interesting, though Vega 64 is still winning in 1080p and 1440p. Vega 64 shouldn't be winning at anything, at any resolution, if current media reports are to be believed.

Forza was always leaning on AMD, well, simply AMD cards tend to perform better on Forza in general, which is an Xbox original game which uses... AMD hardware, so it is kinda natural for AMD to have a "handicap".
nVIDIA might make it with their next driver, maybe not.
At 4k it kinda becomes pure power, where the Ti & Titan Xp excel, 1080p & 1440p less, offer some space for software involvement ( Drivers and card specific optimization code )
