Sadly I have seen this often when shipping computers.
The issue is "how" you ship it.

Sometimes packages go through massive sorting facilities when boxes drop from one platform to another and move off on conveyor belt systems. You must avoid normal shipping at all costs because these things happen.

What you do is go through a private shipper that will ship or truck the item. These shippers usually do not go through sort facilities like US/FedEx do.
Talk to your shipper and have them research before shipping.

The next thing is get insurance.

Anytime these things get shipped you risk having them damaged. Be insured !

With that said... we have no idea now it was shipped in the first place, Craig that is. Was his box well padded etc... usually a wooden crate type pallet system is what is called for these types of things. If you did not do that, then you did not protect yourself and get what you get.

If that was the actual box that was used to ship it back, and not inside a better boxing system then IMO Alphacool did not take the necessary precautions to protect the unit. Clearly they would be a fault and need to pay up.

These things happen all the time, experienced modders do the extra work to protect the build, wooden crate etc. Sometimes the builds even get lost/stolen. Ask Marc Molella about that.
Even Lee Harrington and myself have had massive damage to units even when steps are taken to protect the unit.

One of the main reasons the unit is requested back for inspection is to prevent fraud insurance claims. It goes like this... Alphacool submits claim and carrier pays out. Money is then sent to the modder to recover is costs. Modder now has all the parts he can resale or do what ever. In effect he gets double the value of the system. In effect the damaged unit costs fall on Alphacool as they were the shipper, they have every right to request the unit back and do what they wish with it, after sending the cash to Craig.

What Alphacool "should" do is send Craig a pre-printed shipping label to have it sent back.
