    Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case

    Introduction

For many of us (myself included), for a good tablet to be more than just a content consumption device, an equally good keyboard is mandatory. When you stick a keyboard case on a tablet, you need it to do two things really well:protect your tablet (these things ain't cheap), and allow us to type reasonably fast without tons of errors and typos because the keys or layout sucks. In addition, we want it to look good. The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard case does all three.

    Specifications.

    Packaging & Bundle

The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case is packed inside a small clear plastic box that allows you to take a close look at the case prior to purchasing it.

At the rear of the box we see a description of the product printed in many languages right above the contents and specifications lists.

The box includes the two-piece keyboard, an accompanying micro-USB charger, and instructions on how to get it up and running.

    A Closer Look

The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case is a folio keyboard, which means it encloses your 10" tablet in a protective case.

The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case comes in two separate pieces: a detachable keyboard and a plastic case that snaps on to the back of the tablet.

The two halves are connected by a magnetic flap that not only lets you prop your iPad at two specific angles, but lets you use it in portrait and landscape modes.

Using magnets to attach the two pieces of the case together allows the tablet to be used without the keyboard attached or with the keyboard folded back, providing several possible use cases not possible with other keyboard cases on the market.

It can be used as a regular every day case when not attached to the keyboard. The one negative when attempting to use it as an every day case is the fact that it has not cutout for the camera.

The keyboard itself is made from plastic material on top and aluminum on the bottom.

The keyboard is thin and lightweight, making it fairly portable.

The keyboard we are testing here did not feature backlit. The aluminium-polycarbonate keyboard is very solid, very light and very thin.

As is usual with keyboards, there's 82 keys and a row of function keys to act as shortcuts for functions like media playing, volume, home and lock.

LED indicators for Charge, Bluetooth, Caps Lock and Low Battery.

When not in use, the keyboard folds over the front of the tablet to protect the screen, giving it a nice, portable folio case shape when shut.

    Performance

    Pairing via Bluetooth is easy.

We found it easy and efficient to type out articles the Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard.Although the keys are small, the overall layout hits a sweet spot and the presence of additional keys makes it far easier to type on than the on-screen keyboard. On the TapTyping app, I averaged 58 words per minute with a 98 percent accuracy rate.Beyond that, we really liked the ability to detach the keyboard and place it flat on a surface while the Tablet sat to one side. This turns the Tablet into a mini computer rather than just a micro-laptop.Any time you try to fit a keyboard into a thin chassis, there are bound to be some compromises. Fortunately,Sandberg minimizes those well. The Keyboard's keys have 1.5mm of travel, which is good for a notebook, let alone a keyboard case. The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case has excellent built-in battery. It can last for up to three months on a single charge (with two hours of usage a day).

    Final Thoughts

The Sandberg Bluetooth Keyboard Case($60) is a nice package of keyboard and case, and we like the way the keyboard clips magnetically into the case, and the way the case holds itself magnetically vertical when you are using it as a stand. We like the lightweight nature of the whole package. For us it hits a sweet spot of functionality and weight. We're particularly keen on the removable keyboard that enables the case to function without the additional weight off the keyboard. The keyboard itself works extremely well and we like being able to type on a keyboard that is separate from the Tablet. The reason why there is no cutout for the camera is that the case is a universal one, which can fit every model of tablet in the size segment. It's also a really professional looking system and we can see it being welcome in the boardroom.

If you appreciate the flexibility to use an accessory in many different ways, this may be the keyboard-case for you.
