In what way exactly? In my opinion very little is different. lol it's really just the same as always, anyone remember '05-ish Charlie Demerjian and Fudo Abazovic articles at the Inquirer? I can name plenty more examples from mid to early noughties. In fact even late nineties there were plenty of crazy stories and rumours happening! Every week there was another story! Bitboys come to mind! 3Dfx vs nvidia blowing up with fanboys getting their knickers in a twist at every corner. nVidia vs ATI, S3, Rendition, PowerVR, crazy press conferences and mad freebie giveaways. Reviewers falling over themselves in excitement over the next T&L chip or DirectX 7 vs 8. Yeah sure we didn't have twitter back in the day but plenty of other media platforms were available. Been a hardware enthusiast since the early years of 3D acceleration and I've been frequenting forums since the very early noughties and I can remember things being quite similar as today.

Enthusiasts forget very very quickly. Every new release it baffles me how people go through the exact same cycle?

Depends on the forum. Here, people are more adequate than on other tech forums full of tards.

In terms of vega, since the specs have landed, more people should be confident in its capabilities. Like I said before, max oc vega has no problems reaching stock Ti

If that's the best it can do performance wise, even with OC, I'm not very impressed I'm afraid, but that's just me. It will depend largely on the price bracket they'll offer it at. But I doubt AMD will be making much profit on this card as it is.

Depending on pricing it may still be relevant even if it lands between a 1080 and a 1080ti, my guess is it'll be hard to come by at any price with all the excitement around GPU mining again making it moot. Have been holding off switching out my 980ti classified :s

would prefer AMD due to the new Samsung QLED freesync monitor; but I wouldn't pay a premium to get a AMD card (due to availability).

In recent video, they showed Ti running @2.4ghz Kingpin.

It is already set in stone that NV will allow Pascal tweaking in late July; aka same time frame these cards release. Would still be a nice surprise if NV Enthusiast program lands soon after.

It would be a nice surprise to find any AMD video cards for sale anywhere at less than a 100% markup.

These card manufacturers really should place requirements on retailers on not adding their own markup. The auto industry has been trying to crack down on dealer markup the past few years, and I think we're seeing clear benefits (compare buying a Hellcat at launch compared to buying a Focus RS today).

Just because bitcoin miners are going crazy doesn't mean everyone else has to pay more. Or, if we're taking a pure capitalistic approach, some of that profit should be passed onto the manufacturers.

I have long thought AMD was foolish for not building ASICs off their own GCN tech and using those to mine the hell out of crypto. They'd have no debt by now, and probably a much bigger war chest to play with, had they just paid any attention to their own customers. But I digress.

Allegedly NV and AMD are both going to sell headless compute cards for mining soon. Let retailers/etailers mark THOSE up. kthxbye

this up sell is nice if you had a lower end card. my 4GB gaming x while nice is still a low end card, and with them selling for $400-500 that should give me enough for a midrange card like a 1070 or 1080. i would love a mid or high end amd card, but they dont have one from the last 2 years (there is the fury pro but i dont want a 500W card or xfire.)
