So...basically an 11% performance gain over an O/C'ed 1080Ti.
To me totally not worth it...but if you have money to burn....

this might be the one that gets an unlocked VCC or IO voltage so you dont have to have a special OEM development card to overclock past 2100 and be stable. it is really ty that you have to be kingpin to overclock current gen nvidia cards past where they just boost. they said on a pcper stream that they wanted to allow it but also did not want OEMs having an arms race leading to high RMA and one year lifespans.

nVidia has been sweating since May 27, 2016. NOT. In fact, they haven't been sweating for a long time now.
Life goes on for nVidia after a no show from AMD. And that's pretty much exactly what's happening. nVidia is no Intel v Ryzen. nVidia knows exactly what Vega is and they are under no threat whatsoever. When the GP102 does all the work without breaking a sweat, nVidia really does not need to sweat either.

It's a shame the Note 7 had all the battery issues, as it was otherwise a fantastic phone. Pricey, but more worth it than an S8 for $750 imo. I actually do like the display on there. What gets me is the stupid fingerprint location, as well as the feel of the new soft home button. Just didn't like it in stores.
The worst part is that even Samsung knows its overpriced. The fact they throw in the $100 AKG headphones and a free Gear VR is proof the phone costs too much. I personally would be much happier getting just the phone for $600 (which is still a lot imo, but more reasonable).
My msi gaming x 1080 ti should be here on the 19th.
Had some issues with the order process, ended up my bank didn't change my # for the security thing, whatever.
It's all good, other then a 2nd game bundle left in limbo right now on newegg listed as void, at least it's gone off paypal, but my bank has it on hold.
Anyways, can't wait ^^.
I am curious if the extra power will help in linux on 1080p, to help catchup with windows perf.
I'm also curious to know just how far it can be pushed on pcsx2 with scaling and aa at 4k.
I don't think it'll last as long as my 680 did, but I'll have to make it last.
What I mean is it's already barely above 60fps at 4k, sometimes under, so pretty soon I'll end up having to lower details, sooner then I did with the 680 I think.
Though some of the game's perf I see on youtube looks halfway promising.
The msi looks like it has a true 8 stage pwm.
And a simple 2 stage pwm for it's ram.
Some boards like gigabyte I think it was had 4 fets, 2 per stage, the msi is essentially the same thing but with 2x of those fets missing, 1 on each stage, ie hotter ram mosfets.
It would of been nice if it had a dual bios, it looks like the only card with that is the evga ftw3.
I wish they would of used a 3 stage pwm for the ram, 2 fets per stage for a total of 6.
Like they do on the lightnings and classifieds.
Because then they would essentially be the same thing lol .
And what's this all about with the peci?/pex voltage and 3ghz?
I was wondering about that anyways..
If the vmem and pex was avail via smbus to afterburner in the future, because they usually are.
If not, then I would hope the resistors aren't super tiny like they can be these days.
Pencil modding those small ones is not reliable at all from boot to boot.
But either way, if anything as far as I'm concerned, the only thing I'm missing is the ability to adjust vmem (I probably can't right now...).
I don't really wanna oc it to the max 24/7 when in reality I'll just need an upgrade anyways, to much power waste at a certain point.
At least looking at enough pcb shots of these things I think I know how to find the bios chip by myself finally lol. (It's hooked to a certain rail, I forget which lol, I think ref voltage of some sort, pex maybe ah crap whatever I can't remember)
As a side note, also found out you can turn a pi into a rom flasher so that's yet another use for a pi, I just don't have the money for it yet .
Oh, and on newegg there's mention of coil whine in the 1st batch or so, but I'm unsure if those were legit or not.
Many reporting no coil whine what looks like the 2nd batch I'm guessing, but could be the end of the 1st.
Or heck it could of been the 3rd batch.
I think I'm getting the 3rd batch lol, or maybe it's the 4th... , it's after the above ones anyways.
Supposedly there was stock on apr 1st ???

it's 2.5 slot card, i've seen some are already sagging...
as long as it works and the warranty remains valid I don't care ( doesn't matter anyway, I'm running my rigs on the desk horizontally without cases ).

I just got mine today, the msi gaming x 1080 ti.
I can't get it working in windows though, it says unknown error with the installer and in the device manager it says catastrophic error.
In linux it works fine.
In dying light and tomb raider I here a potential coil whine.
I think it's the pwm switching stages on and off, my 680 lightning had lights for each stage, and in linux it always went a little nuts.
It sounds liek a little buzzing sound, or clicking.
Not really an actual whine, it's noticeable within like 3 ft of the pc, a ft more and it's not really, I think once my side panel is on I wouldn't beable to hear it.
I think it's just a linux thing, though it does mean the pwm on the 1080ti isn't as good as the 680 lightning, the 680l didn't have a buzz, it just had a light show lol...
Once I can get windows to work with it, then I'll know for sure, in windows it tends to keep the pwm stages on, I'll find out then if there's a real whine or buzzing sound or what..
I don't understand what is going on with nv's drivers in windows though.
I dn, gonna try to figure it out tonight.
I got a refund from steam for xplane 11, so I'm bring my cat to the vet in a day or 2, he's extremely sick.
Busy month/week, whatever ^^.
I tried some games in linux, dying light, the forest (windows), the long dark, mafia 2 (windows).
They all seem to do 4k ok'ish.
I need to fix my fps overlay in linux that I made and messed up.
I'm only getting 60-70 fps in mafia 2 though, even in 1080p.
That's telling me I have some sort of issue, maybe it's vsync in the in the cpl thing or something I don't know.
One thing I gotta say though, the leds are annoying as heck.
Especially the white msi logo, my crappy glasses are so scratch up and the anti scratch surface thing is coming off, anyways they're so bad the led look like it's in freaking 3d in most angles...
Makes me think I'm going blind, I guess I should get new glasses, I want glass lenses though...
Grats on getting the card.
I've read online about similar problems with GPU "whine" with this MSI 1080Ti's that are coming out.
I have the money and I'm tired of waiting...so planning to do near complete system rebuild next month with an EVGA 1080Ti SC2.
Screw another Titan, I'm going to stay on a Ti GPU upgrade cycle from now on.
