    Turbo? I run Supercharged lol

Okay, so 3.8v on 1.28v was good for 3hrs. 4ghz on same volts was barely benchable. 4ghz on 1.35v testing now

4ghz is turning out to need more v's. have it up to 1.43v. Remember, this is a MSI B350 Tomahawk. I am actually impressed so for with this board. Running very cool as well.
    I'm currently using 2 x FlareX G-Skill single Rank 8gb 2400mhz DIMMS.
Had to run the Ryzen Blender again... lol, 33secs

The B350 Tomahawk looks somewhat decent for its price point. I was really looking hard at getting that but in the end I didn't want to build an ATX system.

Huh, it needs ~300W for cpu ? No 3D vga use ?
If yes, well, thats kinda disappointing for the cpu, i wouldnt be able to cool 300W using my air.
On a side note, excellent result for the MSI if it can deliver 300W for a cpu and not fry itself its a really decent board.
Everywhere else i was reading that 4ghz clocks need crosshair or taichi, something beefy with a x370.

um.. That is entire system load and idle. It is a OS that has been in use for over a year and on a preveious AMD FX system. Has several background task running, etc. before chip swap, it was near 600w laod and 295 idle for comparison.

ATX ? this isn't a mATX board, full ATX if that's what you mean.

I was trying to estimate pure cpu load looking at idle and load, but yea i dont know whats in there ;-) .What is your cooling ?

Okay, so last night, with the H100i I was able to boot into Windows at 4.1. This was by no means stable and not benchable.
I could achieve the exact same benchmark stable 4.0ghz as with the Ryzen stock cooler. I was, however, an average of 17*C cooler under load with H100i.
I then (don't laugh) let CPU-z stress test run all day at 3.9ghz. It never crashed
I just got home a little while ago and ran Cinebench R15 just to see a quick score. Will do more testing this weakend.

This chip reminds of the first Phenom II 1100t I got, as far as OCing goes. Seem to be the same peak OC on air and basic water.

Didn't buy them, they just showed up
The set I have support 3200 at 1.35v. problem is, my B350 Tomahawk isn't allowing me to do and advance memory tuning. It does, however, default to the 2400 1.2V with correct timings. MSI assured me the board any FlareX are supported in 2400 and 3200 configurations.

Well I didn't grab the MSI there were ASUS and MSI open box msi was 87 asus 79.

Msi seems to lean towards Hynix in qvl asus samsung so I gambled

Above all I am cheap so that was a big factor.

But we can be B350 bros for a while till demand and kinks get worked out on the x370 boards

Nice to see XS alive and kicking! You rock guys

How would you qualify the VRM on the Tomahawk, being only a six phase design?

Someone over at reddit posted this:

I have a thermal camera and since the motherboard does not report the VRM temp, I wanted to see for myself. This photo was taken with cpu loaded using CPU ID Stress test. This is of the back of the MB.
    CPU: R7 1700 @ 3.9Ghz
    CPUV: 1.36v
    CPU Temp: 62c
    VRM Temp: 65c

Not that CPU-z's stress testing is the most stressful thing around... Still, would you say according to your experience this board is up to the task? I mean, a 3.8-4GHz OC at reasonable voltages.

If so, it certainly looks like one of the best B350 boards at around $100

The back and heatsinks of VRM area is cool to the touch., even under load. Not sure what is going on for that user. Poor contact of heatsinks and fets?
Right now I've been test max clock, 24/7, at stock volts for the 1700. Up to 3.6ghz pretty much all day.

I'll see if I can get some temp readings myself. I'm kind of curious.
Also, I found my 12 year old PSU is finally having issues, replaced it and my idle power is under 100w now and load is down a ton. OCing seems more stable as well... It has been a great PSU good old Corsair Single 12v rail 750w!
