    Question Help looking for RAM

    I want to build a new Kaby Lake Rig:

    CPU: i5 7600k -> Expected OC 4.6 on AIR 24/7
    Motherboard: Asrock z270 Fatal1ty gaming K6

    Every store in my country have raised prices of DDR4 especially G.SKILL brand
    Having count that Kaby Lake has has support to better memory frequencies, which memory would you recomend me?

    - G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz 16GB 2x8GB CL14 (14-14-14-34-2N)

    - Patriot Viper 4 DDR4 3733MHz 16GB 2x8GB CL17 (17-19-19-39)

    A store forgot to raise the patriot kit and is cheaper than the G.Skill one. It's a better deal?

    Feel free to give any advice about the motherboard too.

    it does not matter, the only chips that overclock well and is still made are a hynX chip, samsung b and d die are still floating around but i doubt you wil find that in normal kits.

    just get whatever is reasonable around 3200-3400mhz for socket 1151.

    I think both brands Gskill and Patriot use Samsung B ICs in these kits.

    The question should be: Which balance between frequency and CL you think is better performer for an OCed Kaby Lake?

    This patriot kit was anounced since summer '16, while the G.Skill is a few months older. In USA this Patriot modules used to be more expensive than the GSkill, but in Spain I have not to pay any price difference, so could be a better deal only if perform better.

    does it matter if they are the same chips? if they are the same chips you should get the same clocks/timings out of them, and memory speed does not really change system performance outside of benchmarking. you just need 3200mhz so you can overclock the base clock to 166 if you want and not have the ram cause a problem.

    Well, Patriot claims that their ICs are cherry picked to assure this higher frequencies. Perhaps this is true but there aren't reviews, this kit is available since the end of august.

    Meanwhile GSkill has more reviews but focused on gain lower CL latency and not reaching higher frequencies.

    G.Skilled then, in addition to aesthetics is the most reviewed kit. I'll take no risk.
