building a dual skt 2011-3 pc, will this work??

did you try cpu 2 in socket 0. sometimes the older part has to be in the first socket, sometimes the older one in the second, sometimes there is a bios option to override micro code diffrences, and sometimes they just dont work.

i did play the ram game, and no change. I will swap cpus and see if that helps. I also contacted the seller of my e5 2670 v3 as he has 3 more for sale, and I gave him the codes off the cpu and he will see if he has a matching cpu for me.. seems like a nice guy, might even do a straight up swap. Great ebay seller for sure! Im at work for the next 24hrs so when i get home tomorro morning, i will see if any of the above works. Thanks everyone for your input as it is much appreciated!

troubleshot version 3.0..... I swapped cpu sockets with the cpus and still same issue. For s and giggles, I put 1 2670 v3 in skt1 and a 2658 v3 is skt 2 and pc posted. HOWEVER...... inside the bios ONLY cpu 1 was recognized. Thought that was rather strange. pc wont post with 2 2670 v3's but it will post with 2 different cpus. OL well, talking with the guy i bought my single 2670 from and he has 3 more and is trying to match it so i will be good, so CROSS FINGERS PLEASE!

ITS ALIVE!!!! I am now the PROUD owner of a EK watercooled, dual Xeon E5 2670 v3's, 64GB DDR4, with a 980TI thrown in the mix PC for doing nothing more then internet browsing and daily tasks!!!! The ebay seller found a matching cpu to match the first 1 i bought from him and all is 100% perfect... Boy, these cpus are very picky when trying to run 2 of them in a dual skt motherboard. I learned ALOT on this build as this was my very first Xeon dual cpu build and I LOVE IT!! Here is a little task manager pic for ya!

cant oc the bckl or the multi on this board... so i am in fact using a program called throttlestop, and am able to have windows force the turbo multi 24/7 which is 2.5ghz... so 2.1ghz to 2.5ghz made me very happy...
