    Intel 600P Thermal Results

    Original review https://www.chiphell.com/thread-1635321-1-1.html

    From the reviewer:
I later tested, loaded with 49-52 degrees
961 biggest problem is too hot. . .
by an owner of a drive.

Also, another review http://www.gdm.or.jp/review/2016/0923/178850 but with HIGH Ambient temps.

TL DR: The coolest nvme drives but still hot compared to sata drives

they perform ~ 4x - 7x as fast, personally I'd expect them to use 4x - 7x the energy when active
overall active time is lower though, over time with the same load I'd expect similar consumption

This is a very new/ immature product.

Intel has yet to release the software for it. Once it is there, Summy will be ready with its 960EVo.

Maybe it wont plummet the PC this time around.

    Better review:

Full load temperature of 72-74 degrees, the need of special note is the rise in temperature to 70 degrees, 600P 512G began to slow down, slow down by 20% in the left rear after, SSD has stabilized at a temperature of 72-74 degrees, the speed is still continued slow decline

This pretty much concludes that even 600p needs a cooling source let alone Summy/other nvme drives as they throttle beyond ridiculous... WoW...

In instances where sustained activity is expected, the packaging is compensated to match by using 2.5" form factor NVMe (or AIB) with better dissipation and active cooling in the chassis.

200 - 500 IOPs is "normal" in the consumer space with the lower end being way more prevalent and this is only during active periods, sustained activity in the 10's of thousands of IOPs falls in to either enterprise or very specific use cases for which these drives and the form factor in general are not designed.

Smart words but no cooling can compensate for absurd ssd temps from sumsung. Assuming you are not using it as exotic D,B,E drive... Hence, only 3 years warranty.

Hopefully, evo/960 will be a bit better but it is guaranteed you will bake an omelet on them nevertheless.
