This year, Samsung will announce a pair of new consumer SSDs including the 960 EVO and the higher-end 960 PRO, which is the successor to last year?s 950 PRO, which brought Samsung?s 3D V-NAND and NVMe to a smaller, M.2 form-factor. While the official announcement will be tomorrow, we did get a sneak peek at both of the new models courtesy of a few product photos which Samsung integrated into their yearly theme.

That sucks on the 2TB. I hope the EVO 1TB is as fast or faster than the SM961 I guess we will find out.

Kinda expensive imo, but those speeds are absurd.

Anyone know if m.2 has gotten more OS friendly? I recall when the drives first started becoming popular a lot of people had issues installing Windows on them.

    Cool cool.

I've been thinking about switching to M.2 for a while; the main thing holding me back is I'll need a new motherboard (third party controllers almost always at some point choke the bandwidth defeating the whole point). Once Intel/AMD finally have something that make it worthwhile for me to upgrade from SandyBridge I'll make the jump.

Summy fanboys on this forum(aka 80% from I`ve seen) rejoice!

Glad Summy is putting pressure on Intel; hopefully Intel will come out with 600P nvme driver soon as it is the main competitor to Summy`s offerings.

Also it is a bit chaotic that happened to sm961, lolz

The problem about m2 is that it gets too hot whereas sata 3 never gets as hot as m2.

I think on the newer ones the M2 stay within tolerances and don't throttle anymore. Always put some cheap heatsinks on them too.

They do. Although it's harder to trigger.

Sumsung uses its own efi encryption unline Intel, meaning it wont require BIOS mods at all to be bootable.

Chiphell review is the best review of 600P drive, not even gonna commend on other BS "statements".
