[News] Nvidia Parker SoC features 256-core Pascal GPU

    http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/96070...re-pascal-gpu/

Nvidia took the wraps off its new Parker SoC at the Hot Chips symposium in Cupertino yesterday. The headline purpose Parker is as a next-gen mobile processor designed to "power the next generation of autonomous vehicles". Thus it will be found in upcoming deep learning-based self-driving AI pit systems. With its combination of Pascal GPU and Nvidia Denver CPU architecture Parker can efficiently deliver up to 1.5 teraflops.

Just get some rubber around the board to absorb some shock. I can't see any problemse offroading while a board (or a fuse box, ECM, TCM, etc) is onboard controlling everything. It shouldn't be an issue.
    You must [not] advance.

Why do you say that? Cars already have tons of circuitry on them.

Hell, some of the new trucks have as many as 40 Electronic Control Units - and those are designed to go off-road.

i dont think it is a good idea to put infotainment with the ecu/carbuss system.

i really hope not unless it is a hand held, it looks like it is 2ghz 500ish real SP gigaflops, and 20 watts. that would suck for a home console.

Again, always knocking what I say. Seems like you almost have a homing device for me.

And by the way, having helped design the new F250, I can tell you for a fact that the infotainment systems run on the same CAN bus utilizing very similar ECUs.

20 Watts would also suck for a hand held.

i am just very pessimistic, and you love everything reasonable.

and with the infotainment being an online system that will never get proper updates if any i just dont trust it to be on the same system as the ecu. i doubt the truck is brake or steer by wire, but the cars nvidia is targeting are and i just would not want that with the internet.

edit- if you did the last super duty facelift i really like that truck, good luck on the new one.

pixel c and shield (tablet or controller) both work fine with the x1 at a simmilar draw.

Nah I worked on the new one that just released in July. But either way, all subsystems have their own ECU. It's far more cost beneficial to associate individual modules with controlling the powertrain, sync, massage seats, etc. In theory 1 super ECU would be great for high end trucks, but then you'd be inherently giving away free processing power for the lower models.

    According to this
    http://www.greenbot.com/article/2879...a-x1-chip.html
the X1 is a 10 watt chip. The tablet shield has a K1 not an X1 and the source above claims that the K1 is a 5-8watt chip.
