Can my old build make use of the Titan X?

Hello all. I have a build that's 6ish years old and I am looking to upgrade the graphics. (The 5970 is too old for some games I want to play) I've been looking at the new Titan X and I like what I see but I'm just wondering if the rest of the system is too old to make use of it. Would the rest of my system hold it back? If so how much do you think?

it will work fine, you might want to overclock the cpu but it should be fine.

no, your cpu is the bottleneck.
plus your motherboard is only pcie 2.0

I love this kind of reply(no data). True, cpu is bottleneck with pcie 2.0, but how much?

Does it matter if you get say 5 fps more with newer hardware? Or 2% more performance with pcie 3.0? Do you notice difference between 100fps and 95fps?

the card will not saturate pcie3 8x so it should be fine with a 2 16x slot since z170 and x99 sli are about the same. it would depending on game work better with a newer cpu but a 4.8ghz core chip is a 4.8ghz core chip and should be fine. a stock clocked 980x would be a huge draw back though.
