Wait. Who has bluetooth-accessible overclocking software?

Also if you do not like the Asus C6H design, there's always the AsRock x370 Taichi.

I use this on my phone. Its got about the same features as rog connect....without any software installed just bluetooth drivers. Great when gaming and dont want junk running in background.

Asus used to or does for intel. I like this better than software.....losing it is a Downgrade....if i swap parts it is to upgrade only...i dont downgrade.

That Asus Hero AM4 board is all gimmicks my 2c. Give me a real board with real control.

If it looks good...bonus...but for me...function over form.

I don't like lights either, but the bt thing, I don't mind.
I never used it, nor the goofy front panel thing, expensive and a waste in my opinion, mine's still sitting in it's box.
Wish I could shut off all the darned lights on my mobo though, but then again my vga card has a ton of lights for it's pwm and one on the back of the gpu :\.

I've been thinking of setting up some arduino stuff for sensors, open src ones you know...
Since the boards we have essentially all have dmm measure points, and you could add temp sensors np too so...
That's the way I was thinking of going about this stuff in the future.
I also need a pwm fan controller too, arduino's can do 3 pwm signals each board, and each board only uses 0.25w.

There's also bt, wifi and cdma variants of arduino.

The old Crosshair IV Extreme features overclocking using bluetooth

It is definitely very nice except that it offers no security (anybody within range can connect to the bluetooth, the only option is to turn it off completely) and I cannot control the fan speeds using it.

If the ruumours prove to be true and the 8 core variant is a real 8 core smt disabled it should in theory have the highest ipc of the lineup. Based on inabilty to offer 6 core makes me think cluster based chip again...

I don't think it's inability to manufacture that is preventing a 6core sku at launch rather than pricing and potential income harming.
AFAIC they will release a 6C in the future.

Blue tooth must first be paired.....that can not be done without consent of pc....app must be on phone... Fwiw i dont forsee to many rc tweak it hackers lol...i cant even acess mine from upstairs...doubt anyone outside can even communicate.

It goes bluetooth on. Pair. Hit bt button again...this allows rc tweak it...it blocks all other bt functions. I couldn't even acess my own files paired in rc tweak it mode...

Good, then Asus must have fixed that security flaw on board you are using.
On my C4E I can connect my phone to it whenever the bluetooth is on, without taking any action on the PC, which of course is convenient, but not at all secure.

As for range, back when I lived at a student home I was able to pick up the bluetooth signal from my neighbours cellphone through the wall...now imagine if you are at a LAN party; somebody could fry your CPU by setting the voltage too high and you would have no idea who did it.

Yah the lan party deal could be a problem for sure. Lucky me @ 42 i dont get invited to to many lan parties anymore

Sux ive been gone awhile. Come back to find motherboards now look like they are assembled with all the parts required to make voltron...with laser beams.

Interesting. Aside from GPUs where I'm sort of stuck using stuff like Sapphire TRIXX (only when BIOS editing doesn't do the trick) I just stick to OC in the UEFI, but then I guess I'm a little old-fashioned in that regard.

    I don't have a smartphone either, heh.

No man, far away...14nm is new for AMD and finfet is not yet ideal for high clocks. Look at monsters by Intel. These big chips can hold over 4.4 GHz stable in best cases (ussually between 4.2-4.3 GHz).

Thats just not realistic. I have a really good sandy which has proven to clock better than ivy on air/water. Its a 95 watt 4c/8thread chip. Unless i run single stage 5gig 24/7 is not realistic. Heat will always be enemy. Shut off ht then 5gig realistic....

8c/16thread is gonna be hot no matter what. Maybe an 8core...maybe...

This is 'old' post and was circulating forums at Reddit at the end of November or beginning of December before AMD's Horizon event.
Most recent leak I saw was from Ashes of Singularity benchmark using ZD36018AM88F4_40/36_Y 8c/16t Ryzen sample with 3.6GHz / 4.0GHz clock.

This is the same sample some people reported seeing at CES.

    I usually don't post rumours.

I will say this however. There are usually 2 sides to every story. And from those stories usually the truth in those stories lies somewhere in the middle.

And yes im back but in my own capacity and my own choosing. Simply put "there are no strings on me".

That said im here for the community and to see what can and cannot be done.

Looks like 6c/12t Ryzen may be happening:

Again it's a leak/rumour but it looks plausible.

    1. Ipc

    2. max clocks (overclocking and or extreme ocing)

My 2c compare it to a fury x.

BZ is saying 4.1 stable realworld ive heard whispers of similar from various sources. Canard pc claimed 5gig ln2....5 gig means 6 gig not hit...could mean 5.9 and lower...but its still low for ln2. That certainly coincides with less overclockabilty realworld.

Rumoured pricing suggests the ipc is very good.

For 90% of non ocing world the fury x is great...as will ryzen most likely be.

This is why i was inclined to believe lack of 6 core was in lineup...

Based on the way its displayed in pic it looks to me like a 6 core may take a performance hit. Just my opinion. Example depending on how they communicate say core 2/4 are bad. Albeit a microdistance there still could be latency compared to say core 0/6 being shut off.
