    Down Time

XS was hacked on the 11th of July, the hacker was destructive and came for the user/password/email/ip. XS was part of a zeroday against vbulletin based forums including vb forums.

    https://www.leakedsource.com/main

We are on a rebuild of the database with UTF8 fixed and the corruption in a few tables fixed. I also rebuilt the backup server to match this server again as it was still running the old apache config.

My apologies for the extended down time and the loss of data, XS will survive.

I will commit the running database tomorrow, still working on things.

Seems we're back now. Good deal.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Someone needs to track said hacker down and send every known worm / virus / trojan to man to that bastards PC. More to the point though, did the hacker have any success in obtaining usernames and passwords or just try to obliterate everything in frustration at their lack of success?

They'd have been hashed, but it does bring up the right question: Were password hashes taken during this?
If so, it should be advised that everyone with a short/non-complex password should reset their passwords across all sites.

I knew that there had been a vB breach at another site so I changed all my passwords, but I just logged in here with my old password.
I should probably change my passwords AGAIN.

    <sigh>

...... whoa, this is old data.

Oh great more info to learn, all vb forums oh boy...
At least there's good news today, xs is back up , I was concerned that fugger has real life issues or something.
Seen some posting on hwbot but decided I would wait it out after reading some of the comments, seemed like xs could come back and it did .

At least there was piece of good news today I guess, this forum.
I had a bad day today, found out my identity was stolen, was used on a plate in detroit, I know the dudes name and plate # and rough weight, but that's about it.
I now owe detroit $470, which was due the bloody 18th (court was on the 11th), I didn't even know about it until today..., the 21st.
And a warrent for my arrest... (courthouse lady said I would have a warrent if I refused to pay, said to write to the judge, I don't even know the name of the judge...).
Local police was concerned but can't do a darned thing, because it's on the other side of the state.
Freaking crazy stuff these days .
Pretty sure it was the peeps stealing my mail, but who really knows.

    Edit:
Thanks for the link, found out one of my accounts was part of a forum hack on myce.com, a cd/dvd burner forum I posted on a few times.
    And using my name...
    Code:
Badoo.com has: 1 result(s) found. This data was hacked on approximately 0000-00-00 00:00:00 What is in this database?

Gpotato has: 1 result(s) found. This data was hacked on approximately 2007-07-08 00:00:00 What is in this database?
Hotmail addresses has: 1 result(s) found. This data was hacked on approximately 0000-00-00 00:00:00 What is in this database?
I don't use hotmail, but still makes me wonder if my ss # got out there this way or something.
Hmm, who knows, still nice link.
Is there's a link to the news somewhere with this 0 day info for others to know so they can update there vb code?

I'll admit I considered joining Guru3D as XS_Refugee, then I remembered how supremely biased and\or stupid most of their members are
