My friends, it seems I drew the short straw.

As some of you know I've been pretty sick the past 2 months,
The Dr's were all thinking the heart as I had 3 heart attacks on July 17, 2013
At first the symptoms made me agree with them but very quickly I started thinking this is something else.
After 6 weeks of testing on the heart every which way you can and nothing I sort of lost my temper last week on Monday am and
went on a rant at my primary care physician and told her in words of one syllable that before they found out what was wrong I'd be dead.
That motivated her to order like 40 different blood tests and we found out what the problem is.
It looks like advanced prostrate cancer that has moved into the bones.
My PSA was at 400 ( 2-3 is normal) and also factors in the blood that only come from bone or liver cancer.
This explains many things as this is something that's probably been going on in me for years.
I'd just thought at first that the lack of energy was a normal part of aging as lets face it, at 62 I don't expect to feel as I did at 35.
Now the good part is the specialist who seems like a true professional.
I was in to see him today for a biopsy and meet with the oncology people Wednesday.
It is what it is and my head is ok. Life is a journey with no guarantees on it's length..

Now the two things that have helped me deal with this are my friends and family and last, a project to work on in my spare time.
I have the first and I believe only SuperMicro X10DAX dual socket 2011 V3 motherboard with the top pair of 18 core E5-2699 V3 chips in it.
This board is able to be overclocked with BCLK and also memory timings, vcore and vdimm voltage adjustments,
It took me a solid week to get it running as I was just too weak to stand and set it up but for the last week plus it's been running.
Normally I would have been tweaking and testing but again, no energy to do that so I set it at a simple 104BCLK and let it run on WCG
Dear Lord is it a monster. Stable with load temps in the 58-61C range and the computational power is just plain scary.
My dual 10 core IB system(3047MHz) does app 160,000 PPD in WCG.
This at 140MHz less speed(2905Mhz) does app 350,000PPD
After a full week on WCG it is the top daily producer and is even beating a 8 socket 64 core/128 thread X7550 Enterprise class machine
that has to be well over $30,000.00 just in parts alone.
The Dr tells me the first thing he wants to do is boost my energy levels and then I plan to see exactly what is in this beast as I know I haven't come near the limits yet.

The last thing I'd like to say here is that the people I have met here have been the best group that I've ever met.
So many close friends from all over the world that it is humbling at times.

Oh sh_t! I'm very sorry to hear that Dave Things like that make me always scare.
Important is that you don't loose the faith and will. Try to think about positive things and always look forward.
If you're going to start therapy it will be a very though experience and sometimes you'll feel totally beaten and down. Don't loose the faith! Also think about alternative methods (either to support the therapy or target the entire cancer), I have read about lots of methods (and also some of my family members tried them - i.e. linseed oil, various diets, HIGH vitamin C doses, etc), but I don't feel enough skilled to suggest the best alternate methods.

Well done on losing your rag. Just what the doctor didn't order. Now the treatment can begin, leading to recovery. Three work colleagues had treatment for bowel, bladder & prostrate cancer recently & are in remission, working just like they did before. While avoiding getting cancer seems to be no further forward, treatment has improved immensely. I'll raise a glass or two to your good health tonight

There are some things I have always admired and agreed with you on Dave. Inclusion, tolerance and "move on" or "let it go". Of course your appreciation and tolerance of my jokes has always been appreciated. And of course our shared dedication to WCG. I have said before this team is what it is and the members are who they are because of you. The way you have moderated the forums and mediated peace has been masterful. I respect you and appreciate everything you have achieved here. You sir are a gentleman and a good man with a good heart. I hate you and your mom are going through so much. I know you will remain strong because that is who you are.

Having my mom die from colon cancer and then reading your story, a whole host of feelings flood forth. I cant even imagine your struggle.

Do what the doctors tell you to the T. Eat super healthy. Depression is cancers friend so stay positive or fake it to yourself. Surround yourself with positive people. Do what makes you happy even if that means playing with computer parts all night. If you need someone to vent to, id be more than happy to give you my cell number as im sure any of these other guys would also.

Dave I'm very sad to hear this awful news but there are many new and advanced treatments these days. A strong and positive attitude can go a long way in the supporting the healing process. To quote Jimmy V, don't ever give up.
I'm astounded that it took the doctors so long to diagnose the real problem. I have a complete physical every year and complete blood work including a PSA test is standard. To be honest this sounds like negligence/incompetence by the doctor. PSA testing should be done on every male over 50 as part of any PM healthcare.
I know I'm far away but if there is anything I can do to help just ask. I will add your name to our group prayer list.

nanoprobe - There is rising question as to the effectiveness of PSA testing... my opinion on the matter is that it is because the testing methodology is flawed if there are as many false positives being produced as is claimed.

Anyways, that aside.. fight hard Dave, think and be healthy! I've been reading some promising material on binding colloidal particles to cancer cells to allow targeting them easier, maybe something to look into.

Sorry to hear about your prostate cancer diagnosis, MM. But at least now you know what to fight. That's got to be a relief in and of itself.

I will just echo previous people and say that the best thing you can do is maintain a positive attitude. It's worked for my aunt, who has been in remission for 12 years after being diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years ago.Its aso worked for my mother, who has been in remission for almost 2.5 years now.

Please keep fighting! You were one of the reasons I ended up joining the team, as well as starting my dualie obsession.
