Where to get holdown/clamshell/etc (not evap head) for phase?

Hi Folks

Before going too much further, wanted to ask ...does anyone knows where I can find a holdown, clamshell and backplate for gpus? Ideally, something 'universal' that I could use with any graphic card.

I can't remove the evap head itself so looking for something that I can just slip over the line and existing head. If there's no 'off the shelf' products, can anyone recommend someone who may have done this before?

I have no idea anymore man, I think your going to have to get creative and make one yourself.

Pickup a cheap cutting board. Thick. Half inch or so. Use that to make a plate with mounting holes that bolts to your existing mount.

Thanks n00b Of l337! Hmmm...have to think about that a bit. Going to need a different enclosure and clamshell as the 'normal' one is wider than the holes around the gpus.

There are so many other holes on a GPU, and you could maker a bracket to extend out the holes with its own insulating plate.
I'm based out of Hershey PA these days, but I live and work part time in the Flemington NJ area.

Don't have an actual 'block' per se....right now I've got an ss and cascade with normal evap line, evap head, enclosure, clamshell, holdown and backplate. Hoping to be able to mount the evap head directly onto the gpu.

A picture of the block would help a lot, several variations that have different mounting.

One depends on a snap ring, others use interlocking blocks.

Looks like a Chilly1 Evap and that's a Coolerexpress clam shell.

You need to get a square peace of "good" plastic, drill some mounting holes for video card, cut a slot out of the plastic and slide it around the suction line where it meets the evap. Then get some screws and insulation and go to town. You don't need anything fancy.Think getto, not fancy.
You could use a piece of metal but that will sweat so use hard plastic from http://www.mcmaster.com/

Hiya Ron! Hmmm...not entirely following your vision but was shooting for fancy...ghetto-effective is I'm sure the better route to follow.

I would use that clear hold down.

drill the holes to match GPU holes
find correct diameter/length screws
make a back plate with mounting holes
build up the insulation on back and front

test fit a bunch of times

This is what I have so far, still needs holes for mounting but I think you get the idea. I just traced a universal gpu wb mounting plate and cut it out with a simple coping saw, then sanded it smooth.

I used what I had laying around for mounting hardware, I will get some proper bolts later. For insulating the head I just cut a piece of 1 3/8" x 1/2" armaflex that was slightly longer than the head itself. That makes a good seal to the pcb. I didn't prep the card for subzero yet, just wanted to show it working.










This mount works for nearly every card I have except my GTX460 and HD5770 but I can easily make one.

I do not think that is a chilly1 block. All of the ones we made had a deeper slot for the snap ring/rubber washer locking and the size/depth is not correct.

I have an extra GPU bracket but it wont fit that block.
