Enlightening words on GTX970/980 coil whine?

    Hey,

I'm trying to find someone that can actually shed some light on the whole coil whine discussion with Maxwell GPUs. There's a lot of talking going on in the forums, but most of the time people just mindlessly repreat what other people said a few posts earlier. And most of them actually aren't even close to having the technical knowledge to comment on that topic at all.
Can anyone here explain why there seems to be an unusual amount of loud whining coils on Maxwell GPUs and what could be done by the user and/or manfuctarer to prevent this. What have the manufacturers actually done wrong here, if at all? Is it a design flaw by Nvidia?

    Regards Tobias

Coil whine isnt usually a problem for the voltage regulators, just an annoying auditory artifact. Some glue can fix the issue sometimes.

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
