HIV re-emerges in 'cured' Mississippi girl

A baby girl in the US born with HIV and believed cured after very early treatment has now been found to still harbour the virus.

Tests last week on the four-year-old child from Mississippi indicate she is no longer in remission, say doctors.

She had appeared free of HIV as recently as March, without receiving treatment for nearly two years.

The news represents a setback for hopes that very early treatment of drugs may reverse permanent infection.

Eh, Ebola is gonna screw over humanity first...

See... I just don't see it - Ebola is simply to easy to contain. With an Ro of just 2 people (same as aids) it just doesn't have the makings of a humanity killer... add in the fact that it's survival rate is actually much higher in countries where the population has good healthcare systems and proper nutrition and it's just not there. Don't get me wrong, this is a true tragedy for everyone in africa and it's a daunting task to actually stomp out the disease in countries without proper health care facilities, but people in first world countries are more likely to see negative health effects due to the worry than to any actual effect of ebola.
