    Crunching rig costs

Those of you that build rigs just for crunching I have a question for you....

How long do you expect such a rig to last.... That is to say how long do you crunch until you retire the rig and sell off the parts?

I have been thinking of building a chart outlining the cost and points per $ over 3 years Does this sound about right?

3-5 for me. Closer to 5. AMD is known for chipsets/sockets supporting CPUs for a few generations. My main MB is 5 years old, upgraded 3 times. The server boards and Opterons I'll get at least 5. I suspect I might not be in the majority though. Seldom am....

I run mine until the economics say a new rig is cheaper than the electricity... that used to be every 30-32 months, but recently it's been longer. Mine are all over 3 years old now and I don't see a reason to upgrade yet...

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???
