Mael. Classic Stacker 830 rebuild.

Hello. This build log will be for a water cooled Cooler Master Stacker 830 that I will be giving the minimalist treatment. The case was used a few years ago when I started to do a build with it. However I lost interest. So time to resurrect it and start again.


What to expect?
Lots of polishing, simple mods to clean up the interior, clean acrylic loops, and sleeving. Then eventually some powder coating in and out.

The hardware:

2 x Intel E5-2660
Asus Z9PE-D8 WS
32GB G.Skill Sniper
EVGA GTX650Ti Boost
750W Silverstone ST75F-G.

2 x EK Supreme HF
EK Thermosphere
DDC3.2PWM + EK CSQ top
HWLabs SR1 360

Decided I wanted to go w/ polished clear blocks. I polished the first one to the best of my ability.




Then a couple of shots w/ the coolant I will be using. I added a lot more purple this time.

A few days later I finished the other block.





Starting to reassemble the case.



The exterior panels shown are from my old Stacker. They won't be used.



The EK circles didn't match this build so time to sand and polish again.









Then w/ the pump together and some coolant in it.

A few necessary parts showed up.

And then we do a sand and polish on the block and it turns out like this.

Had to spend a few nights in the hotel so I took the block tops along with me. So I did a few hours of polishing while watching some TV one night.













The last few days I have spend nibbling and filing away at these two plates.

I started working on the cable management. Started at the PSU and working my way down.









Modified the radiator. Purpose will be shown at a later date. :dremel:

Finished off the last retention bar. Well not finished but cut.

Now working on the front side of the cables. These cables were stolen from a previously incompleted build. As you can see this isn't going to work. All the crimps are backwards and not exactly correct lengths. :p


Threw on another comb to help keep them curved.


First I cut them down a bit to get an idea how long the cables will need to be.


Snip. Cut the outside row. Will continue working on it tomorrow.

And what brand is the blue liquid you are using? it?s a great color,also you do good photos..

That would be EK's new universal water block. I think it is awesome. I could definitely see myself buying some more of them in the future.

The coolant is a mix of Mayhems deep blue and purple that I have mixed up.

Damn,it?s realy sexy,universal? So it will work in a Gtx 770 non reference rigth? How much did you pay for it?

Ah ok,it?s a good color,i asked because im building a rig with blue coolant as well,and that one is very nice.

Check coolingconfigurator but it should work.

It is pretty expensive for a universal but it looks so much better. I paid $80USD for the block and an addition $15 more for the acrylic bridge.
