I have a hard time buying that with a new generation of graphics cards on a new architecture and we're only going to see a 5-10% performance jump as some websites/forum users are saying off of rumored specs.

If I had to guess I wouldn't be surprised to find out that performance is intentionally limited due to not having the most updated drivers. It's not like nvidia hasn't done that before.

But I will say this - I've been buying nvidia gpu's since the GeForce 2 GTS - never seen things so quite before a release.

Either the NDA is air tight this time or you guys are slacking!
You have to remember that it is the new gen's mid end (that's what the x04 moniker means) that beats last gen's high end. Maxwell is actually shaped up to be one of the most impressive releases, it's not the engineers' fault that the marketing department decides to slap a wrong name (one belonging to a high end card) and sell it as such.

nVidia is in the bad habit lately to release their high end stuff in a different generation (so high end maxwell would be the 1xxx -or whatever- series) than their mid end stuff. It used to be the case that their large chip was released first, now the opposite is the truth..,

Yes, in a bad way. Now you see why Nvidia wants to label their mid range card with a high end name?

yeah that was my thought, the number scheme doesn't determine the general performance anymore, but rather the suffixes/names.

The shipping manifests for nvidias internal testing of gm204 was leaked in may, tape-out probably in april, and the card releasing in sept so typical 6 month tape-out to launch pattern. Since the shipping manifests leaks for gm200 came out in August people are speculating nvidia could launch Titan II by December or January.

Game24/Mod24 event is live streaming. Cringeworthy but I thinking the MOD24 will be fun towards the end.
    http://game24.nvidia.com/event

Also high traffic, so it crashes every few minutes.
