    Asus Lga 2071?

It appears as though Asus has cheated.... or given the end user more value, however you choose to look at it, by utilizing pins on the cpu intel never intended on the new Haswell-E chips. These extra pins are present on both of Asus's upcoming X99 boards.

Took a manufacturer long enough to make use of the spare pins most CPU's have..

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.

Benefit how? Until proven otherwise, this is just another ASUS gimmick.

et’s take a closer look at what exactly ASUS has accomplished. Haswell uses an FIVR (Fully Integrated Voltage Regulator) and as the new processor architectures have appeared, Intel has become more and more secretive about the workings of the pinouts. Not knowing where the voltage lines lay, ASUS basically bruteforced the entire contact points present on 2011 processors to figure out where the new pins should touch to grant unhindered access to voltage. The result? ASUS OC Socket lets you effectively bypass any FIVR compulsions Intel has in place. This means that you will be able to achieve higher and more stable overclocks probably at a lower voltage. I have a feeling ASUS might be a trend setter with this and seeing they already have a patent pending, might earn big bucks from it too.

Should be a decent revenue generator if it provides enough of a competitive advantage to leverage a licensing fee.

Intel say it will void the warrenty of the chip while Asus say it won't. ( source from Kit Guru)

will be interesting to see the difference it makes in the real world though

    --EDIT--
situation clarified. They will be covered

How you can proof if your chip died after OC or not ,-)? Dead chip=no RMA. I can lie or I can say true and I know after OC and dead of CPU will be no RMA of chip....

to this day, I have never lost a processor to overclocking. Even my sandybridge-E on water ran at 1.55v for over a year at 5.2ghz.

Never have CPU die too when overclocking, many motherboards due to bad insulation under subzero ( lol ), even after this cpu was working. But last year when i have purchase my 4930K i have got a bad surprise.. second day cpu was dead without any reason.. First time i see this ( no damage, no bad pin, nothing ).
    CPU: - I7 4930K (EK Supremacy )
GPU: - 2x AMD HD7970 flashed GHZ bios ( EK Acetal Nickel Waterblock H2o)
    Motherboard: Asus x79 Deluxe
    RAM: G-skill Ares C9 2133mhz 16GB
