Question Nvidia card to do 4K at 100fps for any current gen and upcoming games?

    OK:

So I am about to buy a 4K 85" HDTV.

I currently game on a single 780Ti Kingpin Edition with 4.0Ghz 22nm 6 core Intel on regular 2560x1440 ACER display.

    Question:

Should I spend another $1,000 now to get a second 780Ti Kingpin for SLI mode for 4K (need 100fps steady for next all current + next 2 years upcoming games)??

    --or--

Should I wait for "Nvidia 880" version (Maxwell top of the line?) and buy 2 for SLI to keep me at 4k 100fps for current and upcoming games - next 2 years?

I am leaning towards waiting based on 4K reviews out there - but how long is the wait?

Or do you think 2x EVGA 780Ti KingPin Editions in SLI will handle anything I throw at 4K for the next year at least? Again my instinct is to wait upgrade on day one to 2x 880 SLI, and Ebay my Kingpin. I have been away and cannot make sense of the Nvidia road map slide online.

What is the expected jump of performance on highest end Maxwell over 780Ti Kingpin? When will we get this 880? Will 2x 880 SLI be able to handle anything thrown at it @4K??

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!!! I am going to move from desk gaming to recliner gaming on the huge 4K with mini-desk on rollers that I will roll over the recliner and have keyboard + mouse on it for me to use wireless. The giant tower gaming PC will sit next to the 4K 85".

Despite the fact that you're ignoring the biggest issue with SLI/CrossFire ( Micro-Stuttering ), you're also asking for something... oh well... more than dreamy.

So... you're saying "current & upcoming games for the next 2 years at 4k @ 100fps..."

Actually, you can't even do that for current games ( Crysis 3, BattleField 4, etc )

I updated my signature to show my current rig.

So you think I should wait for Maxwell and hold off on moving this PC to the new big 4K television?

If I add another 780Ti Kingpin, could I move it now, and play most games?

How long of a wait for that "880" and how much extra is it going to have over 780Ti at 1400Mhz?

Wait for Maxwell. Kepler is pretty old by now.

4K is no easy task, and next-gen games (thanks to new consoles) are on the way.

Correct, all 4K tv's are 30hz only as far as I know.

Incorrect. I staffed the NVIDIA 4k Surround display at CES running Project Cars on three 4k TVS at 60 ghz in surround (system has 4-way SLI Titans). All connected by DP cables.

I have three ASUS 28" 4k monitors in bound which I will run with my 4-way SLI Titans as well.

Is this like how my tv is advertised that it "runs" at 120hz

    But really only uses 60hz

And you said screens run at 60ghz?

As long as they have dp 1.2 con and the hardware to process 60hz at moment, the new 4k Panasonic TV can, check this for the most awesome tv that stands out of all other 4k tvs, http://www.trustedreviews.com/panaso...t600_TV_review

Regardless of 30hz vs. 60hz, I can't imagine gaming on an 85" display would be anything other than sucky anyway. Unless you sat 15' away and made the UI huge or something.

It rocked at CES. For home, I am going to use the three 28" ASUS monitors (on three 27" 1080p monitors now). This is what runs it all

Looked like 3 standard PC displays to me? My old roommate played on a 47" TV and it was terrible compared to my good old fashioned 30" 2560 x 1600 Dell. I'd even use a 24" 1080p TN panel over a massive 1080p TV.

Not sure what you are talking about. Three 4k monitors running at 60 hz. Did you see in person?

    Some TV's/monitors really suck.

I have an LG W3000H (2560x1600 30") and a Toshiba XV648 (46" 1920x1080) side by side and they both look awesome with sharp fonts and very clear lines on both.

My friend has two TV's (47" Phillips and some 46" off-brand (Vizio?) unit iirc) and they both are fuzzy. Neither even truly seem to support 1920x1080 either because you have to add the resolution manually with one of them or use panel scaling. There is a very clear difference between the image quality of his TV's and my Toshiba, and I would rate the image quality of my Toshiba as exceptional. Yes its not as good as my 30" given the PPI, but it is honestly very nice and I wouldnt write off using large TV's just because there are bad apples out there.

My Samsung 55" looks just as sharp and quick as my asus 144hz 1080p. It's amazing be it, it was a 1900$ 3d 55" tv so it wasn't a cheap panel like most people purchase. All this tv down talk just made me want to jump on in

My original comment was regarding gaming on a single 85" TV and then you posted a video saying it is awesome, but the video contained no analogous setup. Quite the opposite, a multi PC monitor setup, which is awesome.

Sorry I thought we were on the 60hz/30 hz issue.
