Yeah, but if you plan on being 24/7 for the next 30+ months you'd be better off upgrading... (Assuming you can afford it, that is - if not, we all do what we can)
Yeah, that's what I've found too. Is 3 years +/- 2 months not worth the upgrade? Personally I thought that was a great turn-around. Anything below 7 years is worth it from an investment standpoint... (I know computer hardware... you're not going to keep it around for 7 years, but even if a new computer beats the new computer before the time frame, the investment continues to make financial sense until you try to get out of the game...)
I bought my 2600k used for relatively cheap, cut my electric bill in half, and kept my output the same a while back. Paid for most of of the upgrade by selling off two old systems, and the little left over was paid for after just a couple months in saved electricity.
I've really been out of the game for a while now though... Just my main PC and have kept my parents' PC going. I should get back into it a bit more again.

How many total threads are you up too nowadays, ol' man?
Don't think I could even come close. But it would still be fun to know!
I couldn't afford his electric bill, let alone the mega crunchers he has.
Dave doesn't keep ALL the mega machines he builds, and he certainly doesn't keep them all online 24/7. Even at the pittance many 'Muricans pay for power (relatively speaking) it would be prohibitively expensive.

Dave...I'm going to spontaneously combust if I don't get an update soon...
Don't make me start nagging...

Just an update:
It seems that because I want the overclockable board I am still waiting.
Someone needs to tell these people that I don't care about little issues.
That is why we test, to find them!
End of rant..
