    Intel 875P Chipset and Memory Features Configuration

    I have a DELL Dimension 8300 computer with a motherboard with an Intel 875P chipset that I am trying to get running.

    The computer has two sets (different vendor sets) of DDR SDRAM RAM, 2x1GHB + 2x1GB, configured in dual channel configuration.

    When querying chipset feature status using the ctiaw software, I was able to determine that the Intel Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT) would be fully-enabled when a 2x1GB memory set is used individually, but not when the sets are used together (status is reported as "reserved").

    Also when the sets are used individually, "Overflowdevice" is disabled, but when the memory sets are used together the feature is enabled.

    What is "Overflowdevice" and what is its significance?

    How can I get PAT to be automatically configured fully-enabled when the two sets of RAM are used?

    I am still not sure of the significance of Overflowdevice", but I have noticed that it is disabled by default, but enabled until next reboot if CPU-Z 1.64.0.x32 runs.
