    Apogee XL on AMD

I've been rebuilding my water loop and decided to go with the new Swiftech Apogee XL (also switched my rad out for an XSPC RX360).
Not sure if I'll be able to gain much as far as clocks, but my 9370 definitely runs a little hot so it can't hurt...

The XL came today so I thought I'd post some pics. I'm really impressed with the mounting system! Swiftech did an excellent job as far as mounting flexibility goes.
It came with all the hardware needed to mount the block on Intel sockets (1155/2011) and AMD sockets (FM1-AM3+)...
A lot of CPU blocks seem to ignore AMD boards, so it's really nice that they gave us AMD folks an option without the need for goofy adapters.

It's getting pretty late, so I'm not going to install it tonight, but I did use the (supplied) hardware to make it work on my Crosshair 5.

    Here's some pics...

    Screwed into AM3+ backplate:

Underside view of the AMD mounting set up:

Crappy photo, but nothin wrong with a little bling :

I have to buy my hardware, so I didn't want to tear a brand new block apart to show the internals.
Here's a weak attempt to show what's going on inside. It appears to be a slotted configuration (with cross cut's):

I need to replace some fans on my lower radiator, so I'll probably make all the mods at the same time.
I'm at 4.8Ghz (Prime stable) now, hopefully these changes will get me a little more...

    I'll keep ya posted!

If you click on "Specifications" it shows the bottom plate. The pins are definitely a different design from all their other blocks - the HD and Apogee Drive II (H220). Do you have another other standalone blocks to do a direct compare?

    Thanks for the link Ded...

I installed the XL block and temps improved quite a bit!
My numbers aren't very scientific, but I can see a difference with the new block. I was running an Apogee HD with a Swiftech 360-QP (thin) radiator...
Granted, I changed the RAD and the block at the same time, but I was seeing socket temps ~71c and core temps ~56c.
Both improved quite a bit after the changes... I'd say the XL is a decent replacement for the HD, especially considering it's a little cheaper!

Here's a SS with the old gear (when it was new):

I don't use P95 for stability testing anymore... I guess if you need an absolutely stable machine it may be the way to go, but I've found that with IBT stability
my machine will meet my most demanding needs without problems. Including Video Encoding and WCG...

Here's a stable IBT shot with the XL and RX360:

With LLC, core voltage (under load) was actually ~1.47v with the new gear. Regardless of temps this 9370 seems to crap out ~1.488v on ambient cooling...

I'm still tuning, but it's a nice little improvement across the board...

Nice numbers and temperatures out of that 9370 , go for max Mhz and run cinebench R15 and post the results on the AMD CB R15 results tread
