I never understood the appeal of a mini-itx board in a huge tower. I mean you have to have one such merely to accommodate the rest of the watercooling kit (pumps, radiators, fans), in which case why one wouldn't buy an ATX board and be done with it? (since the actual volume of the machine won't increase given that it would already be in a huge tower)

How much of that would you need with a water chiller?

The screw-riddled block in the middle ruins the looks for me.

    That's not true at all.

Probably no other way to do a block cover in general, when two chips' water channels have to be connected passing through a wide set of tall chokes....

The metal plate i believe is used as a top cover for the water channels passing through acrylic exclusively in this area....

Take a look at 295X2 naked photos and the following 290X block to understand what i mean

In the above 290X EK block, the path from main block area to mosfet area is through plexi, not through copper, due to pcb arrangement limitation...

Of course, that is just my opinion, you can wait for tiborr to answer.

You may be right, the component layout is not great.

Like i wrote before, you can see it clearly in the new photos of the block, released by EK :

The water channels in the vrm area are between the metal plate and the plexi, not between the nickel-plated copper body and plexi....

If you look real close, the screws are almost arranged in a money symbol.
