Mr. Raja, would I be able to under clock and under volt a K series chip if I got the H97 vs the Z97? Specifically ASUS' mITX boards.

Sam what were RTL's for the Samsung runs?

Took me a minute on how to get them to 42, 43, 4, 4 but here's how I do it.

Boot into bios and set bclk to 96.3 then save and reboot back in to the bios. Now set MRC fast boot to disabled and then set initial RTL to 47 and save settings. Once again reboot in to the bios to confirm that RTL's are 42, 43, 4, 4 and then enable MRC fast boot so the it doesn't try to to retrain.

Then boot in to windows and raise bclk to 100 with Turbo V light, and bingo proper Samsung RTL's.

    Hope this helps someone

Excellent, setting initial value only worked up to 48 for some reason, that yielded 44/44/4/4, 47 initial value no go if going straight at it,but works with this method.

Meanwhile, had some fun testing the M7 GENE,running prime95 at 199.5 bclk ...piece of cake

some 4GHz/1333 PSC runs on M7G

I can easily boot both 1333c8 presets at 1.75V but there seems to be an issue with all Z97 boards (not only ASUS) that does not allow low-voltage passes at 1333+.

    Nice result and memory Sam..

my test PSC Gskill 19200C9 GBPI on Maximus 7 Impact I just load profile on Memory preset PSC. Promising motherboard all running with on air cooling

    and fail when 2700

will testing with ln2 on it later..

Glad it worked for someone other than me

Almost 200 bclk on air is full retard, good job Alex.

My c7 Flares boot 1.78v 2666 tight (like your last pic) but to stabilize and finish 32M they need 1.84v so I don't think it's the board as this set performs exactly the same on other boards. Have not tried the Impact yet so could be different there.

    Hello,
    n00b question:

Can we install Windows 8 OS on the M.2 SSD slot or is it only a storage/cache solution ?

    Thanks.

You certainly can. I am using the Plextor M6e as an M.2 drive on the M.2 slot of the Z97-Deluxe as a BOOT drive for my Windows 8.1 install. It works fine.

I have a question about the Maximus VII Gene and maybe somebody know the answer:
I like to use one GPU and a TV Card (X1) in the X4 Port (PCIEX4_1).
Can I still use mPCIe 2.0 with 1 Lane and the M.2 slot with 2 Lanes or will be one of them deactivated?

Check 1-26 of the motherboard manual (it's on the Maximus VII support page) here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...r_web_only.pdf

    Has a table of configurations.

Thank You for the answer Raja@ASUS!
Before I posted here, I already downloaded and read the Manual but it didn't answer my question.
In the Manual they say, that the X4 Port (PCIEX4_1) will minimum run as a X2. As I install a X1 Card it could also run as X1 and if we had enough Lanes for mPCIe and the M.2 port left. Unfortunately there is no Option in the Bios to do this.

Having a bit of a problem with my new z97 maximus vii hero/4790k box. Dimm slots a2&b2 appear to be dead. Wont boot with any memory in either of those dimms single or dual channel. Dimms a1&b1 appear to be fine, and will boot up just fine on single channel. With my limited knowledge of the new intel's the only recourse i can come up with myself before rma is a complete tear down and rebuild reseating everything.

Ive tried 3 different sets of memory, the kingston hyperx beast, Gskill ripjaw f3-1866c9d-16gxm & f312800cl9d-8gbrl kits. Ive tried every single stick all 4 dimm slots, every stick will boot up fine in dimms a1&b1 in single channel at auto settings and on their X.M.P profiles. None of the sticks will boot in dimms a2 or b2 (at auto or their xmp profiles) in single channel and naturally nothing will boot in dual channel(in either the red dimms(a2/b2 or the black dimms a1/b1). I either get a 55 error(memory not installed) or it will go into an overclocking failed boot loop.

I'll break it down this evening but hope'n anyone has any ideas of something i can try if that doesnt work. There is also the matter of what to do if this is fubar. I believe the memory controller is onboard the processor so is it the motherboard or the chip, and how to find out?

    Thanks in advance.

Thats what it was, a single bent pin. Cant say it was that way out of the box, since i didnt look that closely. But i think it would be damn hard for me to bend just one pin seating a chip that worked just fine otherwise.

Sucker is bent all the way back against the grain and no other disturbed pins around it. Back in the day that might be something i would bend back myself. but those pins are way too small and dense for me to try and get in there with a needle or something.

Thanks for the reply and luckily there was something obviously physically wrong with the motherboard. I was imagining hell in try'n to figure out what to send back, and didnt want to drive 5 hours round trip to micro center again for a new processor.

I am having an issue with my z97 Sabertooth mark 1 (with 4690k). When I plug in any HDD it will not boot, it gets through the bios splash image and immediately resets. It will find the DVD when that is the only SATA device attached. However, it will not boot when a HDD is attached. I have tried about 4 HDD's and I know 2 of them mount in my HTPC system. I think the board might be bad, but I'm not sure. I did update the board's BIOS to the one that was uploaded last week. 11.04 (or something) and still have the issue. I've tried messing with the sata devices and if i disable SATA then it will boot into BIOS, but if I try IDE or AHCI it does the same boot cycle. I did have an issue with my ram, and i took some from my HTPC... it works in slot 2 and I ran the ASUS mem test and it came up "ok". I am also having issue with getting video out of x16. I am using onboard but I have tried two different cards and can't get either to show video.

I did just buy a brand new PSU to help with this. My old one seemed to be going up and it's possible that it damaged the board... but it seems to post and it does recognize the CPU.

Unless you have any suggestions, I am going to try new ram and then take this brick back...
    Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Hi all ive finally updated my old system from a 920 x58 board to whats below , im not overclocking just yet but from stock 4 -4.5Ghz what can these new chips do on air!!!
I only managed 3.8-4.0 on my old i7 and even then it ran hot but these new chips have such low volts for what they are clocked at it seems crazy lol

First short test yesterday with LN2, but very poor isolation and many issues behind bemchmarking. I dotn know, if the problems were wet at the board or VCCIN voltage. So need some time for serious tetsing with AIR now (how react it with VCCIN/VCORE).
