Hey FNG, I was wondering if you are using the drives in the photo for those overclocks? (The WD Green and Corsair SSD). I can't get much passed 105 Bclk without Windows7 rebooting during start up which makes me suspect the old crappy drive I'm using (Seagate ST316012AS) may not be tolerating the increased clock.

    Anyway, any insights appreciated.

    Thats right!

It sounds strange that the drive prevents a o.c Never heard of it. Have you bumped the volts a bit. I think its more likely that it is the RAM. Try to lower the multi on the ram.

Yeah I was interested in knowing whether indeed this latest AMD chip is any stronger than a 775 socket cpu. I know AMD lapses in performance compared to any current Intel hardware just little confirmation relating to performance with older Intel cpu's is released, is there something suspicious going on here?

I got it sorted, disabled AHCI which was enabled by default, re-installed Win7 on a new hard disk and is working better now. I've only taken it up to 125 BCLK so far and it's running pretty good. I'm guessing it simply had to do with not running in IDE mode.

Seems like the PCI-E slot doesn't have a locked clock.

I wasn't going to overclock as I had previously heard only 100mhz or so was possible. 2.5ish would definitely make it worth it. What tweaks or settings are you guys using to overclock? Is everyone enabling IDE mode? What kind of clocks can be expected in AHCI mode?

This PC is for a kid, I'm not going to get crazy with it. I just wanted to know if it's possible to get a few extra hundred mhz out of this thing without disabling ahci mode (from those who have done it).

Just noticed Asrock added some overclocking functions in a BIOS update to one of their ITX boards:
