Building a new rig; any use for an old SSD?

I haven't put together a rig in close to five years...

I have an older ( first gen, second gen? ) 30GB Supertalent SSD. It had been in a machine I stopped using a while back.

I am going to be using a new 120 GB 4th gen TRIM-supporting SSD for my OS and apps. If I wipe the old 30 gig can it have any functionality as a speed boost type device in this new build.
Or should I just permanently retire it? Is there any usefulness in it?

    The rig is a 4670K, a Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H, with 2 x 4GB of Corsair Vengeance.
