Considering to get this instead of getting another 290x and water loop, I can sell the present 290x and buy one of these. Sadly the sheer size means availability issues on top of which I am not sure about Dx12 compatibility but I love the idea of a ITX build with this monster.

I think the cooler looks really good, and it cools well too. At least AMD got their cooling right with this card, if this card were to use an air cooler, I highly doubt they would be able to cool this card properly. At least AMD isn't asking for over $2000, unlike NVIDIA, I want to see how this card will go up against the Titan Z.

All actual GCN GPU's DX11 should be compatible with DX12, ( same for Nvidia actual gpu's ) only thing is if MS add some specific features who require hardware level in future...
    CPU: - I7 4930K (EK Supremacy )
GPU: - 2x AMD HD7970 flashed GHZ bios ( EK Acetal Nickel Waterblock H2o)

    RAM: G-skill Ares C9 2133mhz 16GB
    Main Storage: Samsung 840EVO 500GB / 2x Crucial RealSSD C300 Raid0

We dont know if thoses features will require hardware change.. But it will surely be like DX11, DX11.2 .. hardware features are too compatible on API / software level. ( but not all, hence why AMD who include them in hardware level can put there cards are DX 11.2 )

Hardware canucks review shows that the 295X2 is slower than 780Ti SLI...
    All else is the opposite.

Was it because they use Intel i7 4930K @ 4.7GHz?
Or is it the actual run through sequence they use on their benchmarks?

It's mainly resolution/game selection. nVidia is doing really well compared to Radeons in 1440p for some reason. Faster CPU if anything, helps AMD driver deliver better results.

You can add too, we can suppose the zone in games used for bench are too different, as there#s big differences in battlefield 4 between HC and other reviews.. ( here the 780TI SLI win by 10fps more of the 295x2. when in other review, this is the invert case ) this can lead to some average different scores.
But i will not put in doubt any method of reviewers, everyone got his point of view on where and how they should test. Its why it is needed to read different reviews, and not only watch the numbers quickly but watch how the tests have been made, what settings are used and compare them.

amd doesn't use nvapi. which can bypass and change directx to do what mantle does for amd.
its pretty much already mantle with nvapi in certain regards. amd just chose to give full hardware access , not alter it for performance gains , or unlocking more with nvapi that directx couldn't do.

should show mantle where applicable in review. i wanted to see atleast one review showing with mantle to see if it was better or worse then 2 290x's in mantle. sharing the pci-e bus

once mantle takes off. amd will just stick to GCN cores for hardware accessing , as if it was x86

Most review use BF4 and Thief DX, Mantle comparaison ( and like all reviews have been made with the 337.50 driver who have been send by Nvidia just at time for the AMD gpu reviews, the comparaison should fit )..

I dont know, i was think nvAPI need to be enabled in the game, is it really possible than Nvidia override this by the driver ? . I dont know, some of their codes are so closed, it is really impossible, even when developpers use them, to know what they do exactly..

Honestly i have not watch much this driver, i wait someone, a reviewer with enough knowledge analyze what have been done by Nvidia....

Why can't they just sell these things without a cooler? AMD has done such a historically poor job that replacing the stock cooling is almost a necessity unless you want to cook eggs on your VRMs.

    i think this!
just like high end cpus, top tier GPU should start by lowering the price and shipping minus heatsink. i wouldnt want to keep that silly cheap looking hybrid clc thing on my 1500$ videocard..

I like this idea as well. However, selling a secondhand water cooled card greatly limits your market. I like to keep the stock air cooler around for that reason.
