Question Help Overclock MSI GX70 with AMD A10 5750M

    Hi Guys,

I've been away from the overclocking scene for almost a decade now, Look at the last system I worked on in my signature

I've bought a MSI GX70 a few months back the CPU performance is appaling, and it's throttles down to 16ghz even when not needed to.

Can some one please give me a guide to lock this at 3 or 3.5 Ghz the rated Max.

    Thank you.

    I'm using windows 8.1

    Hi,

Sorry I am not familiar with the AMD version, I have the Intel version.

Do you have any options in bios?

Go into windows control panels, power options and switch the power scheme to high performance. This might stop the power management from throttling down when idle.

Also check with bios mod guys to see if your unit has been unlocked.

No options in Bios, I'm looking for a real overclock.

I tried using baredit to put the cpu idle to a higher speed but the system hanged and scared the out of me, a week later here I am again.

the MX70 is such a good system capped by the cpu I wish there was a way to Oc

thanks for the bios mod route I'll check there

In the mean time if anyone knows how to oc this much greatful

I would check out some of the threads at TechInferno for some tweaked firmware if it is available for it.

I have a similar ASUS R510DP with the 5750M and I found this post interesting...
1.6 GHz is the idle state on battery, tweaking only Windows power settings can give 3.5 GHz idle / 3.2 GHz light load...2 core load usually 2.8 GHz and then 2.5 under full load.

    It's not that slow...
