Can anyone 'fix' my 7970 BIOS?

I have an XFX 7970 in my posession, the 925Mhz core version - uses the Hynix H5GQ2H24MFR memory, which means it's crap for mining - hashrates are in the 400's, when it should be much higher. Have tried 11 different XFX 7970 BIOS's but unfortunately all of them give me the grey/black screen when the desktop loads - it'll post, it'll get into windows, be fine on the logon screen, then when you log on, you have a desktop for a split second then *WHAM*, grey screen.

So - is there anyone that could take the bios from my card and fix the timings?

    Cheers & TIA

Take a look at the thread linked below and see if you can't incorporate some of the info and get some improvement.

Unfortunately, it looks like having my BIOS modified by The Stilt, is about the only answer:

Your problem is that he isn't doing it anymore...and even worse, have you tried to open up one of the links...they are all dead right now. He posted something about putting them back up, but as far as I know (and I did a quick check before my first post), they are not hosted anywhere.

You might, however, get lucky if you post in that thread and ask if anyone has a copy of the one that you need.

You might also want to keep an eye on this thread, as it appears that this is the one where he will update the info...when he gets the opportunity.

This modded BIOS worked on both my Sapphire and XFX 7970s, both the same Hynix H5GQ2H24MFR chips and both crashed or refused to boot with all the "good" BIOS files I tried. Boosted hash from ~550 to ~750.

Make sure you flash from DOS, I had issues getting a proper flash from Win7 64bit elevated command prompt but every DOS boot flash worked fine. I used Rufus to make a DOS boot drive from an ancient 512MB thumb drive and copied the ATiFlash files and extracted BIOS to it.

Woohoo! It worked! increased performance by another 175 kH/sec, and worked flawlessly in gaming, got better benchmark scores too. Allowed me to decrease voltage, increase core clock to 950 at the same time

    Thanks!
