Best Intel Raid Rom and driver combination for best performance and stability?

    Hi,

Was wondering what is the best performing intel raid rom and driver combination for getting the best performance and stability?
    For ICH10R vs newer?

    Thank you.

Good question...I'd like to know the same for my Z68. Gonna get a friend to do a fresh/new bios mod which adds trim for raid...am currently running an older one from a year ago and want to update it if it's worth it. Also want advice for the Marvell rom too.

I found this page last night courtesy of Fernando. Kind of answers that question I had..

That helps with driver selection but doesn't go into detail re: various versions and their performance. I know that I'm limited to only ver 11.xx and later drivers if I want to retain trim for my raid arrays. I'm guessing that newer is better re: the oroms. Gonna chill and wait for more experienced raid-heads to chime in...*cough*highendtoys*cough*. Won't be updating my modded bios til after the new year...don't get me wrong, the one I'm running now works fine but always looking for that extra (free) bump in performance if it's there. Don't think my current year-old modded bios included and updated oroms for the Marvell or JMicron controllers. Just wanna get the most I can outta my sata ports...as you can see by my sig, I've run out and even moved my externals to a pci card.

Somewhere on Fernandos Win-raid site he posted a few benchmark results comparing the performance of the different Rom and driver versions. To sum it up he and others have said that the 11.2 Rom release is fastest, then 11.6 and then 12.7 for raid performance though I've read the reverse maybe true for single drive benchmarks. I have also read that the the new 12.9 Rom is looking even better but that's unconfirmed as the orom isn't out yet. Just the 12.9 driver is out so I may have that one backwards. Anyhow I would like to see an in depth performance analysis of ease Rom release on a 1 to 5 drive raid 0 and 5 array even. Also comparing ich10r to C200 to z87 old and new. If I had the time I would do it but afraid I would make errors scoring up the numbers. Wish a big site like Toms or Anand would take this on. I also want to add just stay away from 11.5 as I've read there are memory leaks.

    Thanks

Which are the "best" Intel RST(e) Drivers for AHCI and RAID0 systems?

In April 2014 I have done a lot of benchmark tests with 2 different systems both running in AHCI and RAID0 mode, doing a comparison of the most interesting Driver/OROM combinations.
You can find the test results and my conclusions within the start post and post #79 of >this< thread.
Additionally I have tried to answer the initial question for the "best" Intel RST/RST(e) driver within the start post of >this< thread.
