Looks like Intel is taking SSD based storage seriously...and they might just be somewhat affordable for prosumers/enthusiasts...

True. Tried to look em up at NewEgg...no luck. I did however spot what looks to be a great entry level card for only $160...the 9211-4i that uses the x4 pcie slot that a lot of us have sitting empty on our mobos.

This looks very inviting but there's no way I'm buying anything until the impending flood of next gen bootable pci-e ssds hit the shelves sporting the SF-3700 or even the Marvell 8197 and maybe the Barefoot 3 once Tosh gets things sorted. Ideally I'd love to grab a 240GB card with 2x3700s thru a decent LSI raid controller with a nice chunk of DDR3 cache. Think we have to wait a lil longer for LSI (and Intel) to finish the FW and then validation. LSI wouldn't let anyone bench the write speeds when they were showing it off, just the read benches which tells me they're still working on getting the writes up to spec. I'm betting that Intel is on the job helping with the FW. When SF decided to let Intel in on their proprietary code with the SF-2281, the end product was a high performing, rock solid drive...aka the Intel 520s. Was so good that no further fw updates were needed. I imagine it's pretty tough to beat the resources of Intel when it comes to fw engineering and validation...not to mention raw experience.
