    Question on ZXR Op-Amp Upgrade (Upgrades on the Way)

    Ok, so far I have purchased the parts pictured below:

    2x OPA627SM
    1x MUSES01
    2x OP99 to DIP8 Adapter

    My main question is about the orientation of the OPA627SM in the adapter listed above. There is a small tab on the OPA627SM that lets you know how it is oriented and I am assuming you point that tab towards the white circle on the adapter listed? Also I'll be left with two LME49710 that come stock in the front channels. I guess it would make a lot of sense to get a DIP8 Single to DIP8 Dual so I could use those decent quality Op-Amps over the stock rear channel ones (not to mention they would be separate instead of a dual DIP IC).

    One other question is when I put these adapters and the MUSES01 in, does the orientation matter? I know there is only two ways to insert it, so does it have to be oriented in a specific direction.

    So if someone could answer my question on the orientation of putting the OPA627SM in that would be greatly appreciated and I'd be interested to hear any opinions about the upgrade choices I have chosen.

    Edit: I went ahead and got a DIP8 Single to DIP8 Dual, only made sense, or I'd have two LME49710's sitting with the inferior NJM2114D installed.

    Well if anyone else reads this in hopes of finding info here is the little bit of info I have gathered:

    The circle or indention on the Op-Amp goes towards the half moon (or cut out) end of the socket. On the adapter I pictured above on the square solder pad there is another small rectangle coming off which is the key for the OPA627SM. Then the white circle is the simulated indention for the orientation of the adapter into the socket itself (white circle towards the half moon end of adapter).

    What I wrote above is confirmed correct by another Electrical Engineer I know and I made this for people to see it all together:

    Red = Pin 1 Location
    Green = TO-99 Key Orientation

    So for a normal Op-Amp the circle or indention goes towards the half moon/cut out of the PCB socket. For the TO-99 style like the OPA627SM and the adapters above the metal tab will go in on the half moon/cut out PCB socket due to the tab key being in the same direction as the pin 1 white circle indication.

    Thanks for helping people with the orientation in case more people need help.

    How are you liking the sound changes so far from the new op amps? I have personally never been a fan of the OPA627's but I know they are famous because most people do tend to like them a lot. Most models of them I see are in the DIP8 package which would have already been compatible, did you buy the models in the metal can for a specific reason such as those ones sound a bit different?
