Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.26

    Here we go

    Nov 14, 2013 7:37:46 PM (UTC)

We are testing a fix to the research application that required us to stop it. The test will require a deadline date of 1 day for these results.

We are going to run 3 batches through.
    1. Batch 0000000 from production
    2. Batch 9999979 from previous beta
    3. A new batch created by the researchers.

Currently we have about 11,000 work units to send out, more will be sent when the 3rd batch is created.
so, quorum of 2 means that 22,000 need to be worked (less the 88 I have here )

Try running update, especially if you have some "ready to report"

The maximum you can have at once is 1 per thread

As per previous MCM Beta run, beta WUs distributed = Number of threads available on each rig.

Got 32 so far, all v7.26

I was hoping to get the silver badge last night, but need an other 37.5 minutes.

The gold badge will take me forever if we don't get plenty of new projects.

I commented on this at wcg forum too ...

I have received more runtime for this than for all the other projects in the past 3 plus years.

My decision to run many slow threads instead of fewer faster threads has definitely paid off with this.

Cost is relative to disposable income I know but using es cpu's was the only way for me. each of these 5 was ~ $320

currently ebay 261311002346 is the cheapest I see for 2.0Ghz (mine are 2.3 but 2.4 all turbo)

    Edit: deep pockets? ebay 141115531789

@ OC I've always been hesitant to buy chips off Ebay. Is it pretty safe to get high end CPUs off of there?

I haven't bought high end CPU's, but I've bought a couple of pairs of Harpertowns and had no problems with the sellers or the chips. There are plenty of resellers who have been around for awhile on eBay and have good reps. I wouldn't buy from someone who had no or very little selling history. You do have buyer protection from eBay for your purchase, but I am not sure how that would work if there was a problem, because I've never had to use it.

I bought the two pairs from foreign but reputable ebay sellers whose business relies on good feedback. The single was from an individual in this country with good feedback too.

The only thing I have to be aware of is import tax but these sellers understand that and often quote the real value which can be considerably less than the sale price.

eg. For a different purchase altogether I paid (using credit card via paypal for as much protection as possible) $1000. The value on the declaration on packet was $150. so still had to pay tax but not as much as it might have been.

Congrats. I got the silver badge to today.

I'm also a little scared to buy cpu's from ebay. And I don't know enough about the multi cpu systems to go search for parts and put one together.
