ASUS preparing ROG MARS 760 with dual Kepler GK104

    ASUS ROG MARS 760

You are probably scratching your head thinking why on earth would it be called Mars 760. The answer is pretty simple, the new card is based on GeForce GTX 760, two of them actually.

After not very successful launch of MARS III, ASUS decided it?s time to finally add a new card to these series. I don?t know the exact specs, but we can conclude the basics from GTX 760 specs. The ASUS ROG MARS 760 will be based on two GK104 GPUs, both featuring 1152 CUDA cores, providing 2304 in total. Specifications would therefore be very similar to GeForce GTX 780′s, only MARS 760 will have more ROPs (64 vs 48) and more memory (4GB vs 3GB). Moreover, since GTX 760 has 256-bit memory bus, then MARS 760 should be equipped with 512-bit wide interface.

The new MARS will probably compete with all high-end cards on the market. We are expecting very power hungry, but also very powerful graphics card. Hopefully ASUS will price it reasonably.

The ASUS ROG MARS 760 will be released next week. I will post more information about this card as soon as it becomes available.
WOW next week. Read more at videocardz

    EDIT
I think the "more memory (4GB vs 3GB)" description is not correct. GTX 760 has 2GB and memory on dual GPU card is not shared, so It's 2GB per GPU, less memory than GTX 780 3GB

Anyone care to guess the price? I am really hoping ASUS does not try and price this as high as their previous dual cards or even higher than the 780 Ti. Could be a interesting card if priced right, but I'd still rather probably pick up a 780 if it was higher priced.

So this is based on 2 gtx 760s? The people at asus need a reality check. With the current market, there is no room for this card; particularly if this is like the rest of the mars products and overpriced.

2 gtx 760 have the same shaders as a 1152*2 = 2304 = same shaders a gtx 780 which is priced at 499 currently. Consider the overclocking room, being a single GPU chip I would pick the gtx 780 or r9-290 way over this.

There is going to be absolute no market for this when none reference cooling r-290 hits.

This card needs to be priced at 399 or less, but I have a feeling we are going to see it priced at 550 or more because of the ROG and mars moniker.

I think $500 would be good price, about the cost for GTX 260 in SLI. ASUS most likely will market it as super-clocked for around $600. Probably with good scaling it can compete with the GTX 780 Ti at $700, the 2GB memory per GPU might be not enough for some games in higher resolution.

It's still SLI of the GPUs, has 2GB of VRAM per chip and will most likely get destroyed in games by 780ti and 290x while costing somewhere in that range.
I don't see anything monstrous there.

So this is the card you were talking about earlier.

TBH not that exciting, 2gb ram (of usable memory) ,not that fast, Price will be important part of the deal, however i doubt it will be cheaper than R290 :/ probably even 290X ,and the SLI/Crossfire problems that always hamper the potential of many chip configs.Prolly not that overclockable on air too.
Overclocked vanilla 780 isnt going to be faster ?

I agree that at $500 this wouldn't be worth the money, but considering the gtx 760 costs $250, it would be possible that due to the savings of only having 1 pcb etc, they could release it at $400 to compete with the R9 290. I personally would rather deal with the heat and take the 290, but that would certainly make things interesting

I bet price will be $600 and faster than 780Ti, 2-5 FPS faster ? When SLi works well, nothing even remarkable or interesting.

My guess is 7990 is still going to be faster at high res (and these type of cards arent meant for 1920x1080) and has more memory to boot, and has probably higher overclocking headroom.

For some of us, the only game we play is 3DMark

Anyway, I'll be receiving my sample soon, I've spoken to ASUS South Africa and they have one coming soon.

ROG MARS 760 is equipped with two GK104-425 GPUs offering a total of 2304 CUDA cores. Both processors are connected through PLX PEX8747 chip, delivering the best possible performance for such configuration. MARS will also support Quad-SLI.

There’s also a new picture released by HardwareLuxx showing its PCB. You can see Kepler GK104 GPU, the PLX chip and 12-phase DIGI+ VRM. Card will require two 8-pin power connectors.

Now let me give you a glimpse of what ROG MARS is going to offer. It has a dual-fan DirectCU II cooling solution with a heat sink for each GPU, a backplate, and even a glowing MARS logo.

It'll probably be priced even higher compared to whats on the market than that dual GTX 260 that evga released a few years back. I just don't see the point.

Im not sure of the point to release a dual 760 gpu, when you have allready a dual 780 gpu ( dual 680 ) on the market if it is for price it higher.. so the gpu should be priced lower of what it seems yet.
