If the points aren't great, than I will drop down the list.

Please check your device profiles. Some how all of mine where set to all projects, but that wasn't how I had set it up.
Maybe the change to the wcg site messed things up.

First 10,000 will be 3 day deadline ....10 days thereafter

If you get re-sends from this first 10,000 they will have a 1 day deadline

Looks like accessing your individual device profiles screen now has to be done via the "Device Manager" link in the first para of "My projects"

Mapping Cancer Markers and Help Conquer Cancer Scientist

    Dear World Community Grid volunteers,

We're excited to introduce you to our new project, Mapping Cancer Markers.

Most cancers lack effective markers to detect disease early, to identify high risk patients (prognostic signatures), and to predict optimal treatment strategy (predictive signatures). The main challenge is learning from and using the enormous amounts of complex, molecular data from tumor samples. Many methods have been introduced to generate prognostic and predictive signatures from these data, but we lack systematic approaches to find all useful signatures, and to select the best one.

Counter intuitively, good signatures comprise not only the most
differential markers. Identifying these less differential markers - "the best supporting actors" - calls for novel, integrative approaches as current statistical and machine learning methods fail in this task.

The Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM; http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~juris/MCM.htm )
project aims to comprehensively and systematically discover clinically
    useful markers to help:

    1. Detect cancer early,
    2. Identify high-risk patients, and
    3. Predict treatment response.

To power this research, we rely on World Community Grid volunteers who
donate their computers' spare capacity to carry out this extensive
analysis. Finding all clinically useful markers would require processing thousands of patient samples and testing an astronomical number of marker combinations, which is not feasible even on World Community Grid.

We developed approaches called heuristics to reduce the search space,
enabling us to tackle this challenge. However, the success of MCM project is only enabled by World Community Grid with the computing resources donated by volunteers around the world.

Considering the diversity of analyses and data, we will have large
variation in runtimes and work unit duration.
We will keep you updated on the progress and discoveries, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the project.

We hope you will find our project interesting, and support its goals. With your participation, we will form the largest "cancer research team" in the world.

I have 60-70 on each of my 4 crunchers. I was running a very small cache the last few days, and upped that after setting the profile to MCM1 and CEP2 only. I'm now back to 1 day + 0.30

I only have the 3 day deadline version so far plus some re-sends but was in from the start so have 100 here across 3 machines.

I now only have these selected but there is a 3 day queue of other work to finish as well .... it should all work out in the end I guess

First finished wu doesn't look good. 2.76 hours and claiming 82.5 points. 5739 ppd on my 4770k. If I calculated that right.

Lets see how the next one will do.

I've swapped to running MCM exclusively. Some of you know that cancer hits close to home for me, so the cancer projects always get highest priority.

Oh, and regarding points - I don't crunch for the points

Any project deserves our cores, but cancer projects has been at the top of my list too.

And as much as I liked to get some pie a few times, points are fun but not important.

Not here... just another 1979 FAHV tasks to complete before I go full on with MCM1 (or should we call them 1900's or 1901's? )

On the points front: I love the points but the science is king

Just got some of the 10 day work units. Guess MM and OC cleaned up the 3 day for us. There were only 10k of them.

Think yourself lucky... If BeocatKSU ticked the beta box we would all be f***ed.

EDIT: Poppa, Did you miss the other 140 rigs?

4 machines 80 cores each running Gentoo. Hold on a sec feeling woozy.......

    Kansas State University. Deep pockets.

Crap, nose bleed, can't handle 80 cores.

EDIT: Yes and I saw 1 of the 80 cores go up 33k places in stats in one day.

Good for WCG and the projects!
