    Cool link.

Yep. But more of a UNIX beard. I have a long history, and beard and ponytail, with UNIX in general. A few of those guys have longer beards than mine.

Solaris, AIX, SCO, FreeBSD, RedHat, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, Irix and Slackware. Throw in OS2 and Cisco OS as well as a few I forgot. Thats why I am mostly and these days......

Imagine this with unlocked multi cpus at over 4Ghz..Remember, max I can do is 3226Mhz and temps never exceeding 47C! LOLOL

That is very nice. That is double of what my 2600k @ 4.5 GHz uses. And 2 of those would only get me around 17k Boinc.

I first replied about 10% reduction with AMD hardware but I found an old spreadsheet and it was more like 5%.

MM, if you open a terminal/console and type sensors in, that will give you a readout of your core temps and anything else that is attached to a sensors, like PCI cards and RAM sticks.

I am trying out Psensor, which is a handy app that sits in the tray as a thermometer. You can click on it and get a readout of core temps with a graphical readout whenever you want without opening a terminal.

^^ Did you ever actually count how many cores running ?? ^^ Looks like someone stole your core 6 and 7 and gave you a 12 and 13 instead . Makes me wonder about intel turning cores off

Not bad temps for a 25.5 deg C room temp

38K ppd on day one of a new rig??? Sheesh

So how does having a beard help with the darker side of IT? A good beard will loyally protect its owner from the hazards of being an IT professional, bearded men laugh in the face of dust inhalation and simply brush off the ice crystals forming in our beards while many an IT professional has fallen victim to the grim fate of an overzealous air conditioning unit.

Your average IT professional is going to spend a lot of time problem solving, this can often be frustrating and stressful, an unbearded engineer will inevitably find themselves chewing on a pen or their laptop, this can lead to embarrassing ink stains, broken LCDs and chipped teeth; us bearded professionals can simply lean back, stroke our beards and enjoy the calming affect comparable to stroking a puppy or kitten enabling us to think clearer, lower our blood pressure and ultimately come up with a suitable solution that’s going to save the day.

When something goes wrong with your IT infrastructure you want someone reliable who will jump straight to it and fix the issue, the last thing you want is a baby face Justin Bieber look-a-like who’s scared to leave the house with a 5 o’clock shadow, you want someone that you can count on like Gandalf or Chuck Norris!

History is full of great wise men with beards from Confucius to Abraham Lincoln, even Zeus had a beard and you’re not going to mess with Zeus! When it comes to IT you need someone who’s fierce like King Leonidas, yet kind like Santa Claus, you need, a man with a beard!
